yea, i shoulda specified…USA
Sorry, don’t know a huge amount about the candidates over there :(
I try to look into what position the candidates take on important issues like environment, education, health care, our economy, foreign policy and relations with adversaries and make my decision based on what they hope to achieve with those. I read about the candidates and listen closely to their speeches. My decision is for Obama because I feel he is an intelligent speaker and organizer. He represents the kind of change I would like to see in our country at this critical point. Here are the candidates websites…

If you look at his web site you’ll see LOTS of specifics: http://www.barackobama.com/issues/

A Hamas Problem for Obama?
by Mosheh Oinounou
April 16th, 2008
While Sen. Barack Obama sought to improve his relationship with the Jewish community today by meeting with leaders in Philadelphia, comments by a Hamas political adviser this weekend could potentially hurt the Democratic presidential candidate.
During an interview on WABC radio Sunday, top Hamas political adviser Ahmed Yousef said the terrorist group supports Obama’s foreign policy vision.
“We don’t mind–actually we like Mr. Obama. We hope he will (win) the election and I do believe he is like John Kennedy, great man with great principle, and he has a vision to change America to make it in a position to lead the world community but not with domination and arrogance,” Yousef said in response to a question about the group’s willingness to meet with either of the Democratic presidential candidates.
For his part, Obama criticized former President Jimmy Carter’s decision to meet with Hamas, telling Jewish leaders Wednesday that “Hamas is not a state, Hamas is a terrorist organization.”
“We must not negotiate with a terrorist group intent on Israel’s destruction,” Obama said. “We should only sit down with Hamas if they renounce terrorism, recognize Israel’s right to exist, and abide by past agreements.”

I just read this and it expresses my thought & feelings about Obama:

A New Hope
by Jann Wenner
Rolling Stone
The tides of history are rising higher and faster these days. Read them right and ride them, or be crushed. And then along comes Barack Obama, with the kinds of gifts that appear in politics but once every few generations. There is a sense of dignity, even majesty, about him, and underneath that ease lies a resolute discipline. It’s not just that he is eloquent — with that ability to speak both to you and to speak for you — it’s that he has a quality of thinking and intellectual and emotional honesty that is extraordinary.
I first learned of Barack Obama from a man who was at the highest level of George W. Bush’s political organization through two presidential campaigns. He described the first-term senator from Illinois as “a walking hope machine” and told me that he would not work for any Republican candidate in 2008 if Obama was nominated. He challenged me to read Obama’s autobiography, Dreams From My Father.
The book was a revelation. Here was a man whose honesty about himself and understanding of the human condition are both deep and compassionate. Born to a white mother and an African father, he was raised in multiracial Hawaii and for several years in Indonesia. He drifted through some druggy teenage years — no apologies! — before emerging as a star at Harvard Law School. He chose to work as a community organizer in the projects of Chicago rather than join the wealthy insider world of corporate law. And as a young adult, he searched, in the distant villages of Kenya, for the father and family he never knew.
As I read all this, so elegantly written, my mind kept rolling over: Might it be possible? Is there some fate by which we could have this man as president of the United States?
(continued …)
So you shouldn’t support someone just because a nut at the other end of the world thinks he’s great? If that was true, you couldn’t vote for any politician with a personality! He has nothing to do with Hamas, if Hamas decided to ’support’ him in public, what can Obama do about it?
Besides, it’s probably a good thing that Hamas agrees with sòmeones foreign policies, since their actual cooperation will be required to make the Middle East a halfway peaceful place.

You are obviously someone who pays attention to politics and knows tons, given the fact that Ron Paul is no longer an option. McCain won the Republican seat. I am sure you are a nice girl, but I think you should start packing your bags for that big move you will be making soon.
