Thought of the day

When you soar with the eagles, you tend to have their vision too!

~ “What color is the sky in your world?” ~

That was one of the funniest lines I’d heard in the TV sitcom Cheers, when Psychologist Frasier Crane leans over to Cliff after some of his ever flowing rhetoric and says, “Hello in there, Cliff. Tell me, what color is the sky in your world?”

You see the world or life, is a multifaceted gem of great beauty. Depending on how you hold up this gem and which lens you look through determines just what you’ll see. Will what you see be distorted, will it be hazy, or will the facet you choose be clear and flawless.

How you hold this gem up to the light depends a great deal of what color of that prism you’re going to get. Here’s the trick though. YOU are the light! If you cannot give enough of your light you will only see black and white (if you are lucky – some see only black). If you can turn your light up brighter you will start to see into a variety of shades of gray. Only when you become the brightest that you can be, only when you take off the shroud that family and society has put over you – only when you take off the shroud that you have placed on YOURSELF, will you start to see the bright beautiful colors of the rainbow that this multifaceted gem can produce for you.

Turn up the light… see the rainbow.

..True I suppose, nothing new though. Everyone has a differing perception of the world, of life. Yeah.

I can’t just “Turn up the light” or change my perception or feelings in an instant though. I’m never the one to be negative, and I don’t think that I am, I haven’t discounted any chance of recovery or hope. But it is really hard, and I am really trying.. And I am only still trying because I have a sort of subconscious or instinctial sense that almost says, “You have to”.. Don’t know why I chose to say that within this particular post.

Thank you for your reply Fletcher. I understand what you mean. Alot of our ability to “turn up the light” does depend on the weight of the shroud or shrouds that are over us, and who put them there. At first it is not easy to take them off, it’s not easy to even recognize them as shrouds sometimes. But just as you have that voice that says you have to, you will discover another voice that says you can. And just like with everything else… practice makes perfect. You can learn what are the shrouds that cover you, and you can learn to take them off. Some people keep them on for warmth and comfort… they choose the gray.

Not_Emo… sorry to hear that, but there must be all kinds of people in the world… and I accept you for you.

Bright blessings ~Richard

An uplifting post. It seems as though, a lot of times in my short short life, I’ve been living under a black cloud. And, it’s so hard to get out. I suppose, you just have to force yourself to see the beauty in life and indeed, see the light.

I know the black cloud feeling… been there done that. There was a time in my life, not so long ago, that my own mother was calling me Job; of biblical fame because if I didn’t have any bad luck, I’d have no luck at all! But then I learned a very valuable lesson. We attach the meaning to our life. It’s within our own power to see something through a different facet of that gem called life.

It is what you make of it. It’s very normal that when we fall, we look to the ground putting our hands out in front of us for protection. The same is true emotionally, or psychologically. We get into a dark spiral going down, and we focus on the deep dark bottom, because we don’t want to hurt when we hit it. Well… just like a physical fall, chances are it’s gonna hurt, even if you have your hands out to protect you. Instead of focusing on the ground… or the deep dark bottom… look up and try to see the hands reaching out to grab us… and if there are none… cry out for help instead of letting ourself hit bottom… ’cause if you hit the bottom, all by yourself, with no one there to help pick you up, it’s really gonna hurt!

You know what happens to dark clouds when the sun comes out don’t you? How about YOU being the sun. The clouds will go away… oh they may try to come in and at times succeed, but not for long. Be the sun, and the light shining through that multifaceted gem of life, will make beautiful rainbows for you.
