computer help: My husband plays a computer game with killing and violence every single day from the time he comes home till the time he goes to bed. - Help.com

My husband plays a computer game with killing and violence every single day from the time he comes home till the time he goes to bed.

I am fed up with it. His Father married a woman from the game and so did his twin brother. I feel like I have something to worry about when it comes to his fidelity, but he insits that I dont…I just want more time with him and attention, and to be in an actuall marriage not a roommate relationship. We have talked about it over and over, and he always says the same thing, “Its what I enjoy doing like you enjoy shopping, its my hobby, and its cheap. I dont even play that much” He plays on average 30-50 hours a week. What can I do? or am I just crazy?

That is a lot of playing time! You should point out to him that you dont go shopping every single day for hours and hours at a time. If he insists theres no problem with it, maybe you should scare him a little and leave for a few weeks. How hes acting is most definately in a roommate manner, and he needs to know hes not in college anymore.

I tell him that…I just wish there was a limit to how much he could play. He gets in the huge raids in the game and wont stop for hours. he is totally intrigued and doesnt even realize im talking to him. How can anyone enjoy doing doing something for hours on end and not get tired of it?

I guess its like an escape from reality. He gets to be someone else, who, in the game, is someone of importance. Hes a fighter, or leader, warrior, whatever the game is and for a bunch of hours everyday he can pretend hes doesnt have a boring job (if thats how he feels) and can pretend he lives an action packed life.

is there such a thing as gaming addiction? I mean he wakes up and calls his brother first thing to discuss what they did the night before on the game, and he sits at work all day looking up stuff about the game. What else besides making love will distract him? arent there any gamers out there that can help me?

There are people that are addicted to gaming, and furthermore, there is help available…google “impulse control disorders” and a location near you, and you might be able to find a group to help.
