Love help: Jealousy woes… - Help.com

Jealousy woes…

I’m not usually a terribly jealous person. I accept what I have with resenting those who have more. However recently envy has been eating me up. There’s this guy I like (yeah always some bloody guy), and I recently introduced him to a beautiful friend of mine who he now fancies…and it hurts like a punch in the face..

I love this girl, she’s great and I don’t resent her at all, instead I want to attack the guy I like, make him hurt, make him realise how much I do for him. Will this behaviour endear him to me, make him like me back? Will it ‘eck! So please help me resist going down that destructive road! I’m starting to dread nights with them together even though I love each of their company…

It might be worth mentioning that this guy is a close friend who likes me and thinks I’m great friend. However, I just ain’t gorgeous. Darn it!

Any words of wisdom from you lovely people?

oof. ive had that same problem. what you should NOT do, is make a big deal out of it. which is what i did. What you should do, is learn to accept it. soend as much time with them together as poss, and you’ll get used to it. :)

sounds hard, but believe me, thats the best way.

Thanks Sherooo, I shall try, but I have a tendency to build up my negative feelings until I let them out in an entirely unhelpful way. Must. Not. Do. That.

yeah, i know what you mean. thats exactly what i did! but in order for them not to turn against you, you need tor release it differently. its a shame he doesnt feel that way about you.. ive had my fair share of that. but thats life aint it. :)

You will have to let them be together, maybe he will realize that she is not what he wanted after all. Just stay friends with him and if it is meant to be it will happen.

This story reminds me of an incident I went through.. My ex girlfriend was having back problems so I hired a chiropractor..He was only supposed to crack her bones, however he ended “councelling her” and the “sessions were about her leaving me which he encouraged.. I was furious…. But what I learned is you cant control people.. If your guy friend loved yo he wouldnt be hitting on your friend.. Dont even think it is your fault.. He has some issues with his commitment with you and maybe its better it comes out now then latter when you could really become heartbroken

Hi Nensix If this guy is only more interested in your friend because she is pretty then he is shallow minded and not worth being with in that way. If you were to get together you would always be thinking is he thinking of someone else who is prettier than me. Which would then send you into a jelous rage which ends up getting you no where. Be friends with him and leave it at that. and if your friend knows that you like him and she starts seeing him then she isn’t your friend not really not if she knows how much it would hurt you. Hope this helps.

Hey, that seems like quite a complicated situation, I hope it works out for you. If i were you I’d tell my (girl) friend how much I liked him so she’d take it seriously and not try anything with him, and then just try to forget/change the feelings you have for him. If he’s such a good friend, even if you had a chance, would you want to risk your friendship over something that might not last and could destroy it completely? Just try to have as much fun as possible with both of them, and keep your eye out for other guys! :)
