school help: I have an obsession on brushing my teeth and using mouthwash - Help.com

I have an obsession on brushing my teeth and using mouthwash

I just have to brush them every time I go bathroom, or sometimes the desire just comes to me like I have to, do it or I will feel very uneasy ….when I had school I used to take my tooth brush and mini-thing of tooth paste, and the tiny bottle of mouthwash for I could…brush and such during my off period(I know thats so weird)but I just have to do it ……..like 8 times a day or way more …if i dont do it i feel very gross, dirty and anxious

Get a sonic care and do it twice a day. Keeps my teeth so clean my dentist doesn’t even schedule me for cleanings anymore:):)

i used to bring my tooth paste and tooth brush to school too.

but yeah, you really need to be careful, you could wear down the enamel and then you’d get cavities.

maybe when you go to brush, brush very very lightly and use the mouth wash. or when you get the urge to brush, floss in stead and use the mouth wash

I heard that Matthew McConaughey brushes his teeth about 10 times and day and that’s how his teeth are so white. But, I heard that it’s bad for you because you kill to many cells in your mouth. :/

Sounds like you may have a psychological problem. You could consider talking to a doctor or researching this further first (because some doctors will either jump to a conclusion or dismiss you right away). It could be OCD, but it could be that brushing your teeth has somehow become like a security blanket for you. I suppose a big question is do you have other obsessions or compulsions?

In my opinion you should see someone who is qualified to evaluate your condition, such as a psychiatrist or a doctor (who would probably give you a reference). I don’t know how neurotic exactly you are, but I think the fact that you see it as a problem is a sign that it has gotten out of control, and is having a negative impact.
