girlfriend help: Is this a lie? - Help.com

Is this a lie?

Hi, my problem is that i have a girlfriend, and i never told my parents. My parents have never expressed that they cared about this, and they care about my privacy so they don’t even ask, or even want to know. If they did ask, i would tell them.

Am i lieing to them by not telling them? More importantly, am i breaking the nineth commandt (to not bear false witness)?

No of course not they didmt ask and you didnt say you saw something that you didnt your in the clear but if you feel you should tell them then tell them, personally I would but thats just because they dont mind.

If they don’t care and don’t seem to want to know then i don’t see why you should bring it up. However, i would say don’t go out of your way to hide it…if you want to mention her in conversation do so, you should be able to comfortably.

False witness usually means lying that you saw someone or something done that you didn’t. If you don’t want to tell your parents you have a girlfriend that is not a lie, now if they ask and you say no. Why don’t you want to tell your parents:)?
