friends help: If you spoke to… - Help.com

If you spoke to…

if you spoke to me, I couldn’t say.
If you spoke to my father, he’d say I’m brilliant.
If you spoke to my mother, she’d say I’m great.
If you spoke to my brother, he’d say I am at master at everything.
If you spoke to my friends, they’d say I’m fantastic.
If you spoke to my enemies, they’d say I’m a genius.

If you spoke to…. the one….she would say I am unique.
And its her opinion that matters.
Her opinion is the only one that matters to me.

Yeah, but for some reason, I just don’t feel it when they say something like that. I just don’t allow myself to accept it. I don’t know why.

Yeah compliments are hard to take to heart for people that aren’t egomaniacs.

I want to be able to get them though. I don’t want to be all full of my ego, but I want to be able to see it. I just can’t let myself take it in. How do I learn to love and see myself?

The most important thing should be what YOU think. Are you happy in your self?

Idk lol being that i have the same problem. I hate compliments and i dont think im all that smart… It sucks thinking so negatively and not seeing what so many others see :(. But i know you are smart from your poem in your other post. This one isnt bad either. I cant write a poem for nothing even though i want to sooo bad

I don’t think I’m happy with myself. I mean, everyone always says I’m going to succeed and do so well in life, but I just don’t feel like I will be able to make it.
Lol, Skyy, I’m sure you could write a poem just fine! …but this wasn’t meant to be a poem… haha

Lol i knew you were going to say that. I just like how you expressed your feelings i guess. And believe me i can not write a poem. Maybe its because i never actually sat down and tried i just assumed i couldnt. So when i had to write one in highschool i went in thinking i cant so it showed.
Just know you are blessed because its killing me hearing you say you cant believe it, when i see what they see and dont even know you.

I’m sure if you sat down, didn’t think about not being able to, and just wrote your heart out, you could come up with a fantastic poem. Much better than anything of mine. lol
I don’t feel like I’m gifted in anyway though. Sometimes I even feel like I’m even dumber than a lot of people…

Wow thats how i feel when im at school. We have got to stop thinking like this because its not healthy. We are beautiful (yes guys can be beautiful) kind and intelligent people and we need to see/know that. I guess im just having one of those days where im down or whatever. But i have a reason lol.
So try to think positive and see the good not all the bad

The good is invisible though, or maybe it’s not… maybe its just buried deep under all the cad.
Why are you down? What happened?

You should find something that makes you happy then! Something you look forward to doing, on your own, everyday. I talk to a lot of people and it never seems as though anyone has anything they do just for themselves. There’s always something or someone else they do it for, mostly because they can’t make the time. But we’re young and have nothing but time, I dunno if it’ll help, but it’s a suggestion!

There is, one thing, I look forward to. It doesn’t happen every day, in fact, not even every week. It only comes once in a long long while. But it’s just being with this girl. She lifts my whole life up in every way. Every aspect of my life is just better when she’s around.
I’ve devoted pretty much my whole life to other people, by the way, I don’t really do much for myself anymore.

No no no, nothing like that, nothing that concerns other people.

I mean just you. It could be anything I don’t care if it was rubbing baby oil on yourself and going streaking in broad daylight to even out your tan, but something that you do only for yourself for the sole purpose that it makes you feel good.

Religion can be a good way to learn to love yourself, because most say God loves you, and if he is always right, then you are right to love yourself!
Not in the egotistical “I’m the best” way, but in the “I am who I am, and I deserve to be happy” sort of way. I see where your coming from because I have real problems with self esteem, but its all a matter of thinking the right way. Look for the positives in everything, and you will hopefully start to see the positives in yourself.

Lol, honestly? I don’t know if there is anything. I can’t think of a single thing I do for myself anymore… I really can’t think of a single thing.
I can see the positives in everything except myself. I can always find something good in even the worst of someone elses work, and can always see all the bad in my own.

I don’t know, nothing is entertaining for me anymore. Tv, games, all that is just boring to me. I read when I can, but that’s very rarely…

Please don’t take offense to any of the things I say…I don’t mean to come off like a b**ch.

Apathy…this is my most detested of human “states” for lack of a better word.

There’s life in you yet friend. Yes I know you said you feel at your best when your girl is around but, what about when she’s not. What about when there’s no around to hold your hand and make everything okay.

I don’t get that kind of mind frame, how anyone can just wait for their situation to get better. If you don’t find tv, games interesting then find something that isn’t so repetitive. Something that makes you move, something that requires you to put your whole self into it.

I know we’re young but that doesn’t mean we can’t find things we’re passionate about. It doesn’t have to be our passion, I admire people who find what theirs really is, but we can find things that speak to us, that we relate to, that make us feel whole.

She’s not ‘my girl’ :(.
I know I shouldn’t have to wait for it to get better, but I have no other choice. I’ve done so much, especially in the small amount of time I have been on this earth. I still don’t know anything that requires me to do anything good. The world is a very dull place, in reality. I just don’t have anything that speaks to me.

Don’t be such a defeatist. The world isn’t trying to get the best of you. You’ve only got one chance at this whole life thing, right? Don’t for one second think that you’ve done all you can in the time you’ve been given.

I don’t know you, but I feel safe in saying that you’re better than this.

*sigh* I didn’t mean it that way…I just mean that you’re young and shouldn’t think about the world in such dreary terms already.

No I don’t know you better than you know yourself…again, sorry…I shouldn’t be lecturing.

Best wishes.

Haha, trust me, everyone knows me better than I know myself. I try look too far past what is actually there, causing me to be blind.
Its not my fault I look at the world in such an aboriginal way, its just the way my eyes can focus on it…

You say you feel this way because thats how your eyes focus on life. But focus can change, beleive me!
The world is a fascinating place you just have to look in the right places, and forget about the rest. If tv, games etc don’t make you happy, then they are not worth bothering with, but it wont be the same for everything =)

Books, exploring, hobbies, sport. All sorts of things. Infact all sorts of things better for you than tv and games! So you’ll be healthier too, and that also boosts mental health. I go for the odd jog at stupid times in the morning, and always feel better for it. Its really peaceful with no-one around, is good for me, and get a sense of achievement, so good on all counts. When you start to do things that you really enjoy, you’ll proberly find the mundane things are more interesting to you too.
