school help: As a college student I have grown sick and tired of rising tution - Help.com

As a college student I have grown sick and tired of

rising tution rates, paying exhorbitant textbook prices and not receiving fair representation, or even a chance be heard on our campuses. The Arizona constitution even states:

Section 6. The university and all other state educational institutions shall be open to students of both sexes, and the instruction furnished shall be as nearly free as possible. The legislature shall provide for a system of common schools by which a free school shall be established and maintained in every school district for at least six months in each year, which school shall be open to all pupils between the ages of six and twenty-one years.

When talking to my dad about this he said students should band together and do something about these and other issues. Thus I created The Alliance of College Students. It is open to anyone, college student or not. We are in the infant stages, running off of yahoo groups, but I have high hopes for the future. Please pledge your support by becoming a member if you believe in the cause, or volunteer your time, knowledge or resources to futher the goal. Also if anyone has any ideas or suggestions for anything, including how to increase our member base and get the word out to students please let me know. Below is a recap of the mission in a bit more detail:

Thanks everybody!

The Alliance of College Students is a way for college students across the state of Arizona, the country and the world to unite. ACS is the voice of students everywhere: Together we work to battle rising tuition, high text book costs, and many other issues that are important to us. ACS also serves as a resource for college students everywhere. With the textbook exchange, tutor listing, classifieds, degree outlook, things to do, how to get involved, scholarships, internships, jobs, projects and forums, ACS is to be an enormous resource. We are currently in the infant stages but things are progressing quickly. Become one of the founders of ACS and make your voice heard! For too long college students have went without any organization or group representation. With so many powerful voices and influential ideas it is time for us to unite! If you have any ideas or want to play a key role in ACS, feel free to contact us at i> small>(email removed) /small> /i>

Or join our group today: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/allianc...

This is a great chance for you, fellow college students, to put your skills to work in marketing, graphic design, business, photography, art, and more! We need volunteers of all types to play key roles in ACS, as well as general support from anyone and everyone.

If your University won’t abide by your state’s constitution, you always have the right to sue. There are many precedents already set for the protection of students rights, particularly those in Universities.
