I recently joined the soccer team at my high school (I’m a sophomore).

We had our first real practice today, with drills and stuff. I was really bad. This was my first year on a school soccer team, but I’ve played soccer before. I hadn’t done any of the drills before and I did a really bad job. It was obvious that I was the worst on the team. It was humiliating, and horrible. I am seriously considering quitting because it was so awful. What should I do?

Practice drills on your own time if your serious about it. Everyone has done something they’re passionate about and been terrible at it, I’m sure half of the reason they got better and became the great people they are was because it was so humiliating to suck and be the worst at something. If your really determined to play. Do what you have to do to get better but don’t lost hope because of humiliation, if anything gain more drive. thats how you become really good at something.

I wouldn’t give up so easily if I were you. Just practice a lot, try your best, ask for extra help or suggestions from some of the other players. I used to play basketball when I was younger and thought I too was the worst on the team. However, I stuck through it and eventually improved. Of course I had some great team mates and coaches to help. If you really enjoy the sport then you’ll be able to improve with time.

That’s pretty much what my mom said. It was just so embarrassing, I don’t want to have to go through it again. I’m going to practice the drills on my own tomorrow, to see if I can get the hang of them.
