is it a sin to not tell your parents that you currently have a girl friend if they dont ask or care?
if you want to tell them then just bring it up in casual conversation if you dont want to tell them then dont tell them and if they do ask then tell them the truth and then no it is not a sin
Can I ask you what religion you are? I have looked at some of your other post and you seem to be very concerned with sin. Also, how old are you?
youre too young for a relationship to be of too much concern to your parents or to be sinful, but they should take interest, maybe if you do tell them they will be interested, ya never know
oh…also my girlfriends parents dot want her going out so shes doing it in serceret
well now that isnt right, you shouldnt lie like that. if your parents are okay with you dating then thats okay but if hers arent and youre keeping it a secret then that is wrong, how old is she?
It sound like you are having quilt because you are going against her parents wishes. I think honesty is best.
she should talk to her parents about it, you will both probably get in trouble otherwise because these things are always revealed
if i break up with her, i wont be lieing/sinning anymore, right?
The important thing here is that you remember that your parents probably DO love you and care for you. We parents tread a fine line between “not interfering” and being over-protective.
At 13, you are at a crucial turning point in your life. Moving from childhood to adulthood. You need support at this time and the best people to do that are your parents who’ve been through it themselves already.
Whilst it may not be a sin not to discuss every detail of your social life with your parents, it is certainly wrong to perpetuate a lie.
If your girlfriend’s parents have said she may not date yet, you must respect that. To not do so is wrong.
It would be better to discuss this with your parents. Explain that you really like this girl and would like to continue seeing her.
If it were me, I’d be saying “Well now, 13 is too young to consider a serious relationship but I have no objection to you meeting for friendship here at our home as long as I am present and her parents are happy with that arrangement”. Perhaps this is a compromise you could suggest?
no need to be so hasty, she just needs to talk to her parents, and if you would be willing to break up with her cos of what we say then maybe you shouldnt be dating but its up to you
il’d talk to my girlfriend, and maybe my parents
good luck. Let us know how you get on.
You know, maybe if you could meet her parents too they might be willing for you to visit
i just need to relax and talk things out with everyone
No. You may have stood at the crossroads a while, but it depends which road you take now that determines whether you are right or wrong, “sinful” or not.
Now that you know it is wrong to lie, you can do the right thing! Good news eh?
You don’t need to tell anyone anything. If you don’t want to, then don’t.
