Hello, I am inquiring if anyone knows of any possible funding for students who have a BA Degree, but going back to Further Education.

Because I have been told due to my age (23) , and having a Level 4 qualification I am not entitled to any financial help. Being from a low income family and needing to gain two C’s or above GCSE in Math and English, would be very hard for me to continue my education, also with having dyslexia and dyspraxia. After re-sitting those GCSE I plan to start my teaching course. But I will be unable to because there is no funding for people in my criteria. I am excluded from some support for older students because I have a degree in History, which is completely stupid, all I want to do is give something back to the community. Sorry cant get support for that! Sucks being discarded.

Do you have a job currently that has funds available for continuing education? Could you possibly substitute teach part time and go to school part time? (I don’t know what kinds of qualifications are necessary for substitute teachers.) It’s so short-sighted that countries don’t help their future teachers become qualified. :(

Most universities have programs where you work for the university and they comp grad school and sometimes pay you. 23 is not old and I know many people much older than this who get financial aid. requirements are based on level of income and need. If you don’t have income then you qualify for aid.

If you are planning on a second BA then good luck. Universities don’t really like to admit people with degrees already. They only have a set number of slots and like to pick people who are working on their first one.
