Does anyone know any interesting temperature-related stories?

As part of a physics homework, I need to find some interesting temperatures to write about. However, as I don’t get out much, interesting stories are hard to come by.

Do any of you know any stories or anecdotes, specifically involving temperature (in Celsius, Kelvin, whatever)

For example, i’ve found out about a radio station which organised a competition where contestants had to try to sit on blocks of dry ice for the longest time to win concert tickets. However, the dry ice was -78C and all the contestants got frostbite. Harsh.

The book Fahrenheit 451 - a futuristic look at what people do when all literature is banned. It says it is the temperature that paper burns at.

I went to school in a very cold area of the country. There were days where we had to go to class while the National Weather Service would advise people not to go outside because your skin would freeze with like 15min of exposure. There were the times you would think you hair was dry after showering, but it was still damp enough to freeze solid or your nostrils would freeze shut walking to class and you would have to breathe through your mouth the rest of the way, and then one day we heard about how if the temperature was low enough you could take a pan of boiling water and fling it out of the pan, watching it freeze solid before it ever hit the ground. One morning after one of the coldest nights of the year, we tried that. It happened just like that, after which we had to trudge to class, although after the freezing boiling water experiment, I just wanted to crawl back in my warm bed.
