Warning about Birth Control.

Not for the tl;dr crowd!

I’m being a post-whore today, but hey, who cares? Have you guys heard of a birth control called Yaz? The one that gets rid of bloating, acne, moodiness, blah blah blah. Well, I’m posting this just to warn you about it. I was on it for two months and it made me feel like a totally different person. Within the first two weeks I was constantly nervous and anxious, had really bad anxiety attacks, weight gain, crying episodes, insomnia, and major headaches. I told my doctor and he told me that it just needed to really get in my system first. So, I listened to him but it only got worse. It was seriously affecting my relationship with my boyfriend to the point we were about to break up, and I was always fighting with my mom.

I stopped taking it about a week ago and it’s just starting to leave my system. Nobody believed it was the birth control. but after doing some research I found out that some women have had the same problems as me. Not every person had a problem with it, but I found enough people it has made me really consider staying off this pill for good. So, just warning some of you out there, and also, have you ladies been on this pill before? If so were these the side effects you have? I know this is kind of random but I was just curious.

Thanks for the information. I will make sure that I let make other woman aware if they consider going on it. I have heard it was not good, but I have never heard why.

I am glad to hear that you took control of your own body and got off it.

I have tried several different pills, and I also find the results are pretty much teh same as your experience. I have given up on the pill all together. It always made me gain weight and made me anxious and depressed. It effected all of my relationships. while the pill is fine for most women, there are still a lot of us for suffer these symptoms

YES, YES, YES!!!! I can’t be on birth control any more as it sent me crazy!! A lot of women are more fortunate but not me. You may want to try something else, like a progesterone only one.

I’d still be careful with those ones, I know I still had problems on them

Oh wow I didn’t know that you could have the same reactions to all birth controls! This is my first time trying any.

Kind of help, but also kind of a warning.

I am 20 years old and I had the same problem on loestrin. I started loestrin in march and was on it for four months, i was really happy because i had no real side effects until about a month ago when i experienced severe depression, jealousy, and sadness for no reason.. then the panic attacks and anxiety started two weeks ago. My mom right away warned me it was the birth control so i looked it up online and found so many females with the same problem so i stopped taking it last week. i already feel atleast 25 percent better, it kindve comes and goes. I told my gyn and she prescribed me to Yaz but after hearing your story i am not taking that. I really want a back up to condoms, do you think progestin only pills would eliminate the anxiety!? someone let me know about any experiences or opinions- thanks!

I had the exact same reaction on Yaz! I was only on it for a little over a month and immediately I felt depressed - after only one week of taking it! It effected my relationship as well and my boyfriend and I broke up because I decided to get off it and be happy than on it and depressed! I just recently got off of it (about 2 weeks ago) and more bad news… major weight gain! I was 108 before the pill and immediately when I stopped taking it I gained ten pounds. Does anyone know when the side effects will cease and when my system return to it’s natural state? Thanks so much for sharing your experience! It’s comforting to know one’s not going this alone :)

Just give it time, you will start to feel normal again! I think a couple of weeks or a month.
