I cannot ****** focus!

Here’s me: “Okay… going to start working on that ginormous summer project for Advanced History… yep… Hey! Maybe Kam’s emailed me back/I want to read Vampire Kisses/I should go get a snackie!” And then the attention span just gets shorter…

Does anyone have any tips for keeping my mind on a project (that’s not even really boring! Just… I’d rather be doing not-school-related things…)

I have severe ADHD so I can relate! Set short goals. Tell yourself you’ll work on the project for 15 straight minutes, then take a 15 minute break, doing something mindless, like some stupid match 3 game, so that when you go back to the project it actually stimulates your mind. If you don’t have AD/HD then after doing that a few times, your mind should be in a better mode for focusing for longer periods :) Good luck!

sometimes when i can’t focus i write out a schedule for the night and i will be like

7:00-8:00 read vampire kisses
8:00-8:30 work on project
8:30-9:00 get something to eat and check email
9:00-10:00 work on project.

something like that. maybe it will work. Try it!

you have too many distractions in your life. get rid of them or just set them aside this means; friends and family- tell them you need freedom for a while and you’ll get back to them when your project is completed. computer- stay away from e-mailing and all sites unless it has purpose for your project. if this project is something that you have to do…you’ll get it done faster with no distractions …and even faster if you have an “ounce of enthusiasm” for the subject. if your lack of focussing is reoccurring or constant…you may have ADD or ADHD (if your hyper also), which gives you a gift of creativity, so go with it and use it well lol, but if it only occurred when you started the assignment…then you’re really gonna struggle to get the project done…either way…does it really have to get done?
