Yeah, I’ve heard of most of them. I love The Strokes and I quite like We Are Scientists and Maximo Park, certainly enough to buy their last few albums. The Subways are all right, but I’ve only heard of them because they played in a fairly local venue fairly recently. I think. Don’t quote me on that!

I won’t. Yeah I heard that here at Waterfront Park. It was a charity concert here in Oregon.

They are all very similar, or they certainly focus on apathy as a trend. Sayin that though Artic Monkeys are quite upbeat, but I’m not a huge fan. Billy Talent I like, but in moderation.

Yeah I understand whay you are saying. In more ways than one. I can’t hate you for not being as big a fan as me. I pretty much like anything other than Pop, rap , and country. That’s just me. SO what else do you likt “The King”

Pop, rap and country as it happens! I’m a big Johnny Cash fan, and I love blues so I listen to various artists like Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Bob Dylan, and Seasick Steve & Level Devils. I like rap, particularly NWA for a bit of gangsta flava (so street of me!), but I like older stuff like Big Daddy Kane too. My favourite band is Queens of the Stone Age, followed by Soundgarden. I used to like hardcore post-punk like Amen and Will Haven, but I’m not such a huge fan anymore. I do like a bit of metal though like Metallica and Iron Maiden, and a bit of classic rock too like Lynryd Skynyrd, Peter Frampton, Styx and Ozzy Osborne. Ooh, I haven’t touched on pop yet but I really like The Ting Tings. Overall, I have quite a broad taste.

Yeah I guess it is hard not to. I guess it is wrong to judge any particular genre because each artist is so different you know? Sorry if I don’t make any sense. I love Johnny Cash. I know everyone says he latest album is a total disgrace but it is one of my favorites.

I don’t know anyone who felt any of the ‘American Recordings’ were a disgrace, and as the man passed away in 2003 I’d be suprised, nay stunned, if I heard any of this latest offerings.

Wow, well everyone I talk to just hates them. Whatever, they just need a punch to the kisser and they will realize they are wrong. Not that I would hurt anyone.

The ‘American Recordings’ were an award winning quintet of albums released only a few years before Cash’s death. The fourth in the series ‘Man Comes Around’ was in my opinion the most memorable, particularly his cover of Nine Inch Nails’ ‘Hurt’ which became his epitaph. If people don’t like them then that’s personal opinion, but as an artist he was constantly evolving and always uncomprimising in his message. I think anyone that calls his body of work, or any part of that body a disgrace really has no idea what music is.

Wow. That was almost scary in a way. But yeah, it’s nice to meet like minded people. With Cash being dead and all, and a lot of the bands/artists I mentioned being either dead or disbanded, most teenagers probably won’t hear their music for several years. The nice thing about rock music though is that new bands often praise their inspiration thereby opening a new world of music to their audience. That happens is rap music too where artists rap about their heros in their music, or sample elements of a favourite track. I really like Nas’ ‘Hip Hop Is Dead’ where he samples Iron Butterfly’s track ‘Ina Gadda Da Vida’, a track I only heard thanks to ‘The Simpsons’! Thank you popular culture!

Well, for 13 you have a good start in terms of music tastes! I didn’t really get in to music until I was about 13, and my taste has continued to evolve as I’ve grown older over the last 10 years. Anyway, I must to bed. Nice speaking with you. Speak to you later.

Wha…? That “The Stereophonics first 2 albums were okay I guess”? It’s true. Their third album was terrible. It’s one of the worst things ever, and that’s not specific to music!

The Hives are great. It kind of pissed me off that they were on Cartoon Network though. But they are still great. I like the Vines. Bu only a little. I get tired of em really quickly. The sterophonics are descent. Not that great really. Polyphonic spree…well, I do like a few of their songs but hate most of the rest.

The wombats are one of y favorites I just got their latest album a guide to love, loss and desper. My favorites by them are probably lets dance to joy division, backfire at the disco, here comes the anxiety, and doctor susan mattox loves me. This Providence is okay. I listen to them every so often. Elliot smith a no no for me. Everyone has heard of beck and cake. They are pretty great bands. I enjoy the cribs every now and then but they get old for me really quick. The Decemberists actually started out here in Portland, Oregon. I live only a few miles away from there. My brother got their album a while ago. I like some their songs. Who doesn’t like the flaming lips? The Frattelis are okay. It’s okay I am the same way sometimes. I just love music.

Yeah, I have heard of blur actually. I really like them a lot. I am a huge fan of the ceasars. I love Jerk it out. That is probably their most popular song anyway. I am not a huge fan for circa survive but they are pretty good. Death Cab for Cutie is huge. Yeah I love em though. I love Dirty Pretty Things. I find them to be rather amazing. How do you not love the futureheads? Honorary Title is okay. I don’t like many of their songs but there are a few that I couldn’t live without.
