Hello, my name is Mike im 22 years old and have been using marijuana almost everyday for the past 10 years.

Recently I have also became an alcoholic, drinking everyday and I can’t seem to take control of my drug addiction or alcohol problem anymore. I feel like I am alone and there is nobody to help me through this because I don’t have any friends that are drug free and I never have. I am depressed and I think if I completly quit doing drugs and drinking these guys wont even be my friends anymore. What should I do to take control of my life again?

plain and simple…it workd for me….go to www.na.org look up meeting in your area go to one and tell someone there what you just posted here. i guarantee you will find the help you need if you follow those suggestions. all you need is the willingness and they will help you to stop if thats what you really want

if the thought of doing that scares you as much as it did me…just realize that everyone there is just like you….except for one thing…they are clean today. you will find nothing but acceptance and love there.

ok…then if thats the case, try www.aa.org it is basically the same program except they focus on alcohol. the NA program was derived from the AA principles so aa will help you get on the right road. i had to do the same thing in the beginning…until i eventually found NA meetings. all i did is every time i heard someone refer to alcohol i just substituted the word drugs in my mind. you will find that even the “classic alcoholic” is basically like us - they are just addicted to one drug. the disease of addiction still has a hold on them too. NA is just a bit more broad in its focus…it is on addiction, not addiction to cocaine, heroin, crack, pot, booze….but addiction in general. for me the drugs and drinking are just symptoms of my disease. AA or NA will help you stop the progression of it before it is to late. like i said earlier you just have to be willing. You dont have to be willing to stop using for the rest of your life. you just have to be willing to stop for today. Keep telling yourself that every day and eventually you will have been clean for years - ONE DAY AT A TIME!
