After a long week at work, you are finally able to relax at home with your spouse and two teen-age daughters. You’re in your living room watching TV with your spouse. Your daughters are in their own rooms doing…whatever. Because both of you have worked hard for many years, you are now able to live more comfortably in what you thought to be a safe community.

At 9:00PM you hear a knock on the door and your spouse gets up to answer the door. After the door is unlocked you hear a sudden outburst as two strange young men burst through the door and into your living room……..

Not a lot to work on here im afraid.
i fyou had mentioned the wife sreaming or the men being armed etc.

To be honest it sounds like a typical family visit :o)
Seriously though i generally get the door (being the man of the house)
I would like to think i would react with a big helping of get the f … out of my house b4 ….
I also have items i can use for protection but at atthe endof the day who knows how we would react.

Knock out the first with a jugular thump, jump the second starting with a collarbone breaking hammer fist and hope two things: 1 my family is safe and 2 that I don’t have to kill anyone. Should the second somehow get away from me and pull a weapon I would have to take my favorite pen, its is a very heavy pen, and throw for the stomach. If I believe him to be anymore of a threat to anyone I would have to finish it with a sternum breaking punch. Too many variable to tell; this is just one possible outcome of many.

Help me with: I just wanted to say that I absolutely love this website.

Well, I’d grab the rifle in the closet behind me at the door as they jump out at me. That’s for sure. Or, seeing as I’m a smart cookie, grab the nearest wine bottle to use as a weapon or a sharp knife and text my friend to call 911 for me. Simple as pie.

Why? Was this real?

I would pick up the phone and call 911. Even if you don’t talk, they’ll come to investigate. I would drop the phone but leave it on and then go to the door and try to get those thugs out/protect wife.

the simple truth is most of you would end up watch as they took the inocinse of you children and your wife. The home invasion can only be stopped in the first 10 seconds using the peep hole is the only way you or your family will get the upper hand as she sees a gun coming though the door is not going to give you time to get her and the children in to a safe room. First and for most always have a plan and a panic alarm such as ADT with in reach of the door talk to your children early and show them how to activate it. Then if you do open the door and it takes place their are more of you that can take action. Two as you slam the door in their face yell fire and loud people wont to help people in fire hero syndrome. At the very least they will call the fire department. Don’t stop yelling. It may or may not get attention but they don’t know that it did not. If you grab the gun as it come in the door do not let go unless you have no choice. If it is a hand gun point it away from you get it tight with your attacker. Hold it close for a rifle, if it is parallel to your chest It will not hit you it may go off. but if blows away your sofa and not you, you will live. you have nothing to win and everything to loose if you let go at hat point. if you have set up plan the alarm will be ringing the fire department is on it way and children have fled the house. your only job is to stay alive. it may take minutes for every thing to happen but it will seam like days. If the attacker tells you to give him the gun and he will go, Don’t you believe it keep yelling fire and let them know some one is on their way. Fire department never show with out the police so that should not detune you from yelling fire. and if you are in a bad neighbor-hood some one will come instead of turn there back.
This is my suggestions not coming from some Dr. Froyd type.
