I HATE circuses too, those jerks put those animals through torture. I do not let my children go to circuses.

They’re rounding them up so they can get to a better place and are able to drink water and get fed so they don’t die. Some horses have been found dead and they think is because they don’t have a place to eat and drink.

Because, of course, it’s way better to let them all destroy the ecosystem and starve to death rather than try to manage the population with roundups and culls.

I mean, it’s natural, so it must be good, right?

You wouldn’t care in the least if horses weren’t part of your juvenile fantasies. If this was about raccoons or rats, you’d never even have heard about it.

Umm i actually happen to have the same respect for rats and raccoons as i do for anyother animal. They are both intelligent animals who are misunderstood because of the stereotypes humans gave them. People do have rats as pets you know. And they love them just as much as their pet cats and dogs

I’m well aware that people keep rats and raccoons as pets. My first college roommate had several pictures of his rats prominently displayed. The vast majority of people, however, couldn’t care less unless an animal is cute and fluffy. That’s neither here nor there.

I think its ridiculously hypocritical for people to look at these horses that were reintroduced to the American continent, by man, after a 10,000 year absence and then declare that we don’t have the right, let alone the responsibility, to continue managing an ecosystem that we disturbed.

Well maybe we should get rid of the horse races that caused all of this chaos in the first place. But we cant do that because the rich folk love their sport… They are despicable to me to. They train a horse then as soon as she/he lands in last place, off to the slaughter house they go

The races didn’t cause it, there more an exploitation of resources than anything. Horses were brought back first by the Spanish explorers and later by other European explorers and colonists. You’ll have to take it up with Columbus and Ponce de Leon.

I know they brought them here and were introduced to Native Americans. Thats how they started hunting on horses instead of on foot etc etc. But slaughtering probably wouldnt be so big if horse races were banned completely. Just like people who breed dogs. Some of them are so evil how they treat them. And lab rats, mice, rabbits, minks, sea lions, whales, sharks, fish, shrimp, lobsters, birds, pandas, trees and any other animal/living thing that are being mistreated, slaughtered, disrespected and everything else horrible that a person can do to a living thing.

Well, I don’t know much about horse racing, but I was under the impression that those horses were bred for the task, not collected from wild herds.

Well im guessing you didnt know that rich people spend thousands of dollars on horses they think will win the race. They give them steriods and other drugs to make them stronger so they can run faster. Those horses are bred for that task which is why it should be banned. Therefore thousands of horses wouldnt have to be abandoned (i.e left to starve and rot to death) or sent to a slaughter house.

With the wild herds? Manage the population through veterinary practices and by acting, when necessary, in place of the predators that we have removed from the ecosystem.

Again, none of those other horses (race, circus, rodeo, etc) have anything to do with the wild population. If you really want to ‘help’ those horses, work towards some form of oversight. You’ll find systems already in place, but you’re free to try and change them.

Personally, I really don’t like horses and the obsession that pubescent girls have with them always creeps me out.
