Very good. The loan shark will get no response and go away. When I checked his replies, the most recent one was 51 minutes ago.
And if he gets replies, it’s probably another scammer. I appreciate the effort though and will look at the trail some more.
After a mod gets the report, he or she will see that person’s IP address, and if they are on as multiple users, will ban the IP.

And then I got told off for interrupting the ‘are helpers getting lazy post’. Felt it was ironic to tell you the truth. All the helpers were there whilst the scammers were on the loose! :)
I have been in the same position. But it’s better to start a post about it than to interrupt someone else’s. We were heavily trolled by members of another site that used to be owned by the company that owns this one (until recently), and I couldn’t find mod for several hours. It happens far less now. But multiple reports actually slows down the process.
Yeah, I was just getting so frustrated. I learned very quickly how to follow them from post to post. At least they stopped, a small victory, but one I am hanging on to.

We definately need mods who work ‘European’ hours. If all the mods are from the USA, there is bound to be a time slot when they are all off line. And people will take advantage of that.

The need for a British or European mod has been a problem for awhile. Several of the current mods spend a lot of time on the site, and a few are not very active. They handle all the conflict and boring work for the site–unpaid. Since the parent company was sold to CBS, the admin has been out of pocket and everything is left to the mods. Only the admin can assign new mods. I don’t always agree with them, but I respect them.
lol..cnet has given the mods powers that few mods on other sites have…..
They are admins……unpaid.

Oh okay. I didn’t realise the ramifications. Seems poor going if Mods are unpaid admins. Maybe the mods need to protest.
There’s no one to protest to. The admin is now working on another CBS project. We’re on the back burner with the corporation. I think they continue out of loyalty to the people here.
I haven’t been here very long, so I don’t feel I really have the right to comment much on this, but I sure wish there were more mods on at any one time. It’s too much for one to handle sometimes, and frankly, I’d prefer to have choices as to which mods to go to with problems.
I believe lots of people here would be willing to put in the time and effort of being a mod for free, if only they’d let more join the Mod Squad.
no announcement of any changes yet even thought the current developer keeps coming online from time to time.
take it the users will continue to be treated like rubbish.

no I just wold like this site to see the criticism and consider it……maybe take other factors into account that only the mods and admins know and improve the site.

When we find a troll a few of us have agreed to report it and then write reported on the post. It stops too many people placing the same report.

No I would never edit a post. We just send a reply.
the more reports the more likely the action. Different mods have different opinions…..some will act some will let it pass…..the more reports then the more likely one will act.
Ken recently asked me just to make one report per offender, even if I spot ‘em on another post … and I think that’s in the TOS or whatever too.
Well, I give up. I have been taken in twice tonight. I have just spent half an hour (with sansceriph I might add) trying to help, what I thought was a desperate person, who turned out to be someone who was deliberately trying to offend everyone to get themselves banned.
What a waste of my time. What have I actually achieved this evening? Nothing!
I spent hours tring to sort out a scammer, only to be sucked into their post, then spent the rest of the evening trying to help the suicdal post who was trying to involve us all in his banning.

Im sorry you felt my post was stupid, I however was nothing but polite to you and understood your urgency and said nothing unkind to you, anywhere. I can not help something else was going on at the same time. I acccepted your apology and come here to see you slandering me. Nice, and thank you. I just wanted to help others realize, appreciation can go a long ways, much like manners.

I was very nice and let him speak all over my post. I understood he was trying to get attention for everyone. He was trying to stop hustlers.
Hope it was stopped and I thanked him for his time at it. I know it can be very frustrating seeing the hurters out there.
I think he was already upset, and it didn’t quite fit on your post. But I don’t think he was referring to you here above.
