I know this isn’t a medical site or anything but I’ve

had a lot of success getting help on here for lots of things so I figured why not try and post something on here too. Can’t hurt!

Anyways, I was diagnosed with a kidney infection Sunday night and put on an antibiotic and was given something for pain during urination. I have only been on the medication for about a day and a half and understand it takes more time than this for the medicine to take effect but I am in a great deal of pain and discomfort. My fevers are very high (about 102), the chills are unbearable and the back pain… lets just say I have not had a second of relief aside from when I am asleep, and I am still woken up by the sweats/pain. I am taking otc Ibuprofen for the fever and pain but the results are minimal… even when I am taking 800 mg of the stuff. (don’t worry, I know somewhat what I’m doing… I know not to overdose!) I wasn’t sure if there were certain things I can eat, or drink… or take… to relieve any of my discomforts. And as a warning to all those out there who have ever had a UTI - even if the symptoms are so small you hardly notice them GET IT TAKEN CARE OF! CAUSE THIS SUCKS!

jean, is your fever higher then when you were at the Dr.? If so, it might be better to give his office a call and let him decide what to do at this point.

well it was really high right before i went to the doctors - but i took some tylenol right before going there and it was much lower when i was there. I did tell them that my fever was higher than it had ever been in my opinion (i dont have a thermometer) and i think they took that into account.

Call the doctor and let them decide. No use second guessing the professionals

Yep. Cranberry juice, as Ireland-1 said. It flushes the bacteria out of your kidneys and bladder, pronto!
