Year help: I had my first seizure when I was 10-11 years old. - Help.com

Editors:

I had my first seizure when I was 10-11 years old.

I have had at least 5. Two of which I had after I gave birth to two of my children, I have 4 children. I am now 26 years old, the last recent one I have had was 3 days ago after 8 years without meds. Am im epiletic? Will they get worse..? I sometimes have jerks from my arms but no sezuires. Whats really wrong with me? Please someone give me insight..are there any programs that can help with healthcare.

You need to see a doctor and probably get some tests done. I have epilepsy and had to have tests done before I was diagnosed.

Are you under a doctor’s care?

Hello. I am also epileptic and as :S! said, the best way to find out if you are is to see a doctor and have him run some tests. They may or may not get worse there is no telling without seeing a doctor who is trained in epilepsy. I wish you luck. If you need to talk more shout me.

Since you were given Meds to control this before surely they mentioned what the meds were for at the time. It doesnt sound like you have insurance. Epilepsy Pharmacuetical Associations on the internet (look in Google) will help you out with free meds if that is indeed what you have.

Many major drug companies are more than happy to provide you with free meds but you must visit a doctor or free clinic first to get some basic tests done. they arent serious or even expensive and they would mean that you qualify to join the free drugs programme

Do you have grand mal seizures ? I do . I did not start having seizures until I was 21 years old they got up to like 7 a week. I had no idea when they were coming on. The doctors put me through a trial of medication hell I was on so many different kinds until they found one that helped. It was a long frustrating process. They told me I had late onset epilepsy. I went for a while seizure free but when I start stressing again it often triggers seizures. They just come out of the blue. Mas is right the medicines can be expensive God I know that all too well. But doctors and clinics can get you samples and even get you in programs where you can get your meds for lower cost or for free. See you doctor don’t let it go. There is light at the end of the tunnel. It was a 5 year tunnel for me but eventually I found it. You may always have seizures they may not be able to fully control them but you will learn how to deal with them so life is not so hard. Just hang in
