MEDICAL HELP (SWIMMERS EAR?

) I was recently staying at a hotel with a swimming pool and I was in the pool almost every day with little relatives.
On the last day before leaving, I was swimming to the bottom of a semi deep pool a lot, but nothing was bothereing me then.
I was woken up the next morning at about 6 (which is very early for me on my holidays) by a sharp pain in my left ear. My right ear was sort of aching, but my left one was way worse.
One of my relatives had brought these ear drops which are supposed to clear out any water out of your ear after swimming.
So the next day she put those in, and the day after that my ears stopped hurting.
But now I have been home for a couple days and today my ear started hurting like crazy again and I could hardly take it anymore.
So one of my friends had these drops (because her son had ear infections a lot when he was small) and she said it should help because i most likely had an infection.
Basically, the drops went in 2 or 3 hours ago, and i can now hardly hear out of my ear. She only put it in one of my ears (the left).
I can hear myself breathe and swallow and sounds that are inside your body that you don’t normally hear because it feels like my ear is plugged up.
I am a little worried, because I’m thinking that there might be some kind of damage that has happened to my ear internally.
I would really like to keep my hearing as I enjoy music greatly and play a number of instruments.
If you know anything that might help, please let me know ASAP!
This feeling is uncomfortable and I would like to get rid of it as soon as I can.

Go to see a doctor, they can assess you properly and give you far more insight than anybody on this site can.

I don’t really want to make a trip all the way into town though.
I was wondering if there was anyone who knew a home remedy that has worked for them, that’s all.
If need be, I can go see a doctor. I just don’t think it’s totally nescessary yet.

If you need an antibiotic, youve got to go and see a doctor. I know people do the vinegar and something else, i forgot, as a deterrent to swimmers ear.. to get the water out so it doesnt grow life, but once its infected….

Well if your worried about damage having occurred internally than it’s unlikely that home remedies will be able to help you.

Seriously, hearing is important, don’t take any risks. Go get it checked out by a professional. I will also say what I mention on most medical posts I see, attempting a diagnosis over the internet is extremely negligent and I can’t imagine it would be considered a good thing by any of the mods/admins. Leave things such as this to people that are fully trained and qualified in dealing with your issues.

Go to a doctor in case you have an ear infection. A doctor will perscribe antibiotics if you do have an ear infection. An ear infection that is untreated can damage your hearing and even lead to deafness.

Call your doctor first and see if he can just call something in but seeing him is best. Also a pharmiscist should know of something else maybe. Call a pharmacy. The only home remedy I know about is putting warm to hot waterin the ear to cleanit out and the Murine over the counter drops and cotton ballin the ear soit can drain. This is a serious problem so med attentionis best because if it continues there is a serious chance you could lose your hearing.

Go see a doctor but before you do, look at this:

Seventeen had an article about that in the May or June issue this year.

The old remedy of putting alcohol does not really work to well. I would have to agree that going to see your doctor is the best bet.

In Hawaii we have swimmers ear all the time, right away mix half vinegar half alcohol and put drops on your ear 3 to 6 drops every 4 hrs. the alcohol will dry the water and the vinegar will change the ph which will stop any germ from growing in your middle ear it works better if you do it a.s.a.p.
