3D artists.
Hello everyone, it has been a while since i posted last, I just wondered if there are any 3d artists out there on help and what your prefered software pakage is. I use blender and have done for about 6 or 7 years. iv used 3ds max and maya before too but never really got on with them.
Anyway your feelings and reviews on which pakage you like would be nice :).
Modeling always makes me smile. I was depressed today and so I quickly did this wacky guy to make me smile. :)

Maya! You just said you didn’t get along with it though, but I rather enjoy the program, takes awhile to get used to but I think the effects are worth all the painstaking work that goes into using that program.
iv barely used actually….. 3dsmax i find very unexpressive and rigid. the only time i have ever used maya was a copy i got from a friend but it was all in russian which may have been my problem with it lol
Russian??? Yes that might have been your problem. Did you go to school for art? Or is this just a hobby?
no no no just a hobby lol. i have been doing moddeling and animation on and off for years, so im pretty proficient. I mean that probably only took me 20mins. Do you use maya professionally?
I never have been into 3D. I would like to, but it seems like such a steep learning curve. I’ve been around 3D Studio Max artists, but it just never seemed intuitive to me.
Oh goodness no. I took some classes back in my junior year in high school because I was bored and exploring all types of art. I rather liked Maya though so when I have enough time and no work to do I’ll spend it making cartoons for friends. I get a kick out of seeing the little figures move across the screen.

no i have never liked 3dsmax. But i would seriously recomend blender….. its very intuative. Plus it has the enoumous bonus of being absolutly FREE!!!! and thats a big plus with the full versions of maya and 3dsmax so expensive. There are loads of tutorials online and i supose it helps that i started using it near the begining and so as it has grown it have been able to follow it.
I have a free one called 3D Canvas 7, but it looks basic.
Blender.com?
no blender.org try it out its great and there are gallaries there of what sort of things you can achevie. Basically it can do anything you could ever want up to a professional level. Cirtainly better than that little one i knocked up above quickly lol.
Is that what Wallis looked like when he was younger? Love the hair detail. Sorry that you are not feeling too great today. Anything you want to bash out? You’ve got some good listeners here at the moment.
What the hell, man? I told you not to post pictures of me on the internet. :)
*giggles
You did it well Ben! :) He looks really cute. Heeheee! This makes my day, i tell you!

BD, those URl’s aren’t very good. .org and especially .cx are hardly used.
Course if you were able to build up a site on it, it’s all that matters.
my son like 3ds max and is very good at it.
It takes quite a while to get used to it because of the complexity.

The programs freeware, you can download it directly from the website shie
Blender is a favorite of mine, I love how you can turn it on and instantly starting manipulating vertices. My current program of choice tho is Soft Image XSI, I highly recommend you check it out. www.digitaltutors.com is a good place for tutorials, they’re expensive, but everything on the internet is, emm, “available” for free hehe… I like your character, particularly the eyes. I also use Maya, 3dsmax and Zbrush 3 (try Zbrush if you havent it’s amazing).
