Person help: What are some tips to get my point across? - Help.com

What are some tips to get my point across?

So I’m really nervous, I haven this meeting my advisory today. I’m on a city youth commission, and I’m in charge, or charing the September 11th event. Which usually is not that hard sensing all it is is contacting people. But this year, I want it to be completely different. Anyway that’s not important, so I”m with my advisory, and I’m not a people person first of all, and I’m not used to the whole city commission thing even though I’ve been on a year. I have trouble voicing my opinion on certain issues. lol ANyway what are some tips for getting my point across about my ideas???

I would imagine to be passionate about your topic, but not violent.

Use analogy to explain what you’re talking about. Put it in simple terms and then back up your pedigree with statement.

Say, “It’s like this other thing which is bad, so it is bad. I know because I’m a bad expert with 5 years experience. I know more bad that Michael Jackson.”

Et.c.

Heh. I used to coach youth on city commissions and such professionally a few years ago.

First of all, make sure you know what you want, don’t let there be doubt about your own view unless it is supposed to be a debate and share opinions.

Write some stuff down, keywords, for yourself.
Not the whole speech you might give, but words so you make sure you include everything you want to say.

If you want, post that here and we can all have a look and see if we can help you out a bit.

Also speaking in public, there are a few tricks that might help you.
But let me know if that can be of use.
