um my mom possibly hates me or something?

lately, i could swear my mom hates me.
her and her friends ALWAYS talk crap about me, to my face!
her and my brother always make jokes about me being ‘emo’ knowing i hate it,
i could totally understand my brother, but my mom?

and lately i have been getting in trouble for EVERYTHING, literally.
the other day me and my friend were hanging out on the playgroud outside the library, waiting for my mom to pick us up and take us to a show. well we were getting hungry, so i called my mom to see if we were getting anything before the show, because we wouldnt get home until around midnight.
so she told us that we werent, so we decided to walk down to the zaxby’s. while we were waiting in line she called me back asking were i was at and so i told her, she got mad because we were getting something to eat when she was going to cook for us after the show, like i said we wouldnt get home till around midnight and we were hungry right then. well she got mad at me and starts screaming into the phone at me, i kept trying to explain to her, but i couldnt get my saying in, so i got fed up with her screaming and i hung up.
so she came and got me and took me and my friend back to my house, were she sat me in a chair for 15 minutes and just screamed and cussed at me, after my friend left she screamed at me more and then grounded me.

then i got in trouble a couple days ago because we had trouble starting the car and i said “oh great, the car wont start” apparently ‘i was speaking fate?’ that confused me.
and i got in trouble recently because i didnt sleep.

i swear my mom finds the tiniest things to get mad at me about, and we got in a fight last week and i screamed at her that my brother was her favorite out of us and she even admited it.
and she has been calling me stupid and after everything i say she always replies with ‘wow your not as dumb as i thought you were, congradulations.’

geez is she going through some midlife crisis and taking it all out on me?
or is she just having an extremely long PMSing phaze!?

Nah, she was probably just wondering why you couldn’t resist stuffing your faces for a couple of hours. She didn’t understand why you HAD TO HAVE FOOD THAT INSTANT, when she was already fixing stuff when you called. Not only was her time wasted, which was time taken away from work which she probably got in trouble for, but then she didn’t even get to enjoy the meal with you. Add to that the fact that now all the money for the meal was pretty much wasted, since she would otherwise have been happy with whatever she usually has, but then you went and blew more money. So twice the money wasted, time taken off from work for no reason possibly getting her on the bad side of her coworkers and bosses, her work in preparing the meal wasted. she didn’t get to spend any time with you which she was probably really really hoping for (after all, look how much she went through for it). So much waste and disappointment and frustration and now she has to deal with the co-workers and bosses and everything else and she just doesn’t understand why you so desperately had to eat fast food and couldn’t wait just that little bit and didn’t even think about it or about her.

I dont think her made cooked the food yet. I thought the poster said her mom was going to cook after the show… And thats not the only issue she has with her mom thats just one example.

I would help you but i dont know what to say other than keep your head up and hopefully your mom will see what shes doing to you soon

I’m a Dad, so I don’t quite get the mother daughter relationship. I know what Freud says about the Electra complex, but I don’t buy it 100%. I have hear however that the mother / daughter relationship can be very stressful at times. I doubt it has anything to do with hormones, although I suppose it could. I’m thinking your mom has some other stresses that you maybe are not aware of. Did you mom over-react, in my opinion yes (but I’m a Dad). In a sense you did disobey your mom. You asked if you were eating before the show, and she said no… you left the place you had apparently agreed to meet and got food (before the show, even though you mom said you were not eating before the show) Over reaction… yeah I think so, but parents can get wrapped up in having children that are obedient. Where is your Dad in all this?

Well, you don’t have to go to the grocery store before every meal. Most of the time you just use what’s in the kitchen/pantry/fridge already.

As for only getting fries, well, parents have been getting a truckload of pressure to keep their kids away from junk food like that. It’s really insane. Some kids have even been removed to foster care for such stupid little things, because an anonymous tip comes in that the kid is being neglected and malnourished and you get the idea. Child Protective Services pretty much has to step in and look around and report, no matter how bogus the claim is.

So fries = her possibly losing you to foster care. You can see how that might be upsetting. And it’s not just fries, or junk food, it’s anything that the neighbors disapprove of regarding the way she takes care of you. Or if she has a Homeowners Association then there are endless nitpicky things to deal with there, like if her lawn is nice enough or her paint job blends with the neighbors or her mailbox is okay and more endless stuff like that which means she’s an unfit mother. The point is, she’s always under a microscope, all her actions are examined, escpecially with regards to the kids since that’s an easy target.

For a Dad, I think Richard gave an excellent reply.

I’m a Daughter and a Mom.

I see two things happening here.

You are obviously growing up and you have now started seeing your Mom through different eyes then when you were younger, for you it’s not about just doing what you are told anymore, it’s about using your own brain and with that you see her imperfections.

She is now having to adjust to that and for a mother that can be very frustrating, some mothers do not know how to handle their daughters becoming more mature and independent. It’s like with my daughter, I knew long ago that the teen years would naturally put a distance between us, that’s just nature. I told her long ago, “I’ll miss you when you hate me”. She thought that wouldn’t happen and said “I’ll never hate you Mommy”, but now she’s getting older and she sees what I was talking about. She doesn’t see me as perfect anymore, she sees my flaws, they were always there, but now she sees them and even though I knew she would, it doesn’t make it any easier.

Like your Mother, my own Mother over reacted to a lot of things. I try to remember that with my own daughter, I try not to over react to situations, because I remember how that felt and let’s face it growing up is hard enough as it is, I imagine sometimes I fail and blow my top especially when feeling helpless in a situation.
