Instead, try to realise the reality; there is no spoon.
And before long, you will see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is your mind.

Youll be Okay just lay off the fiction for a while…

Don’t lay off the fiction. Just work to make reality more like the things you like to read about.

Fiction is the human mind building a world of extremes, and showing us what they’ve built. It is often idealistic, but always extreme in one way or another.

Don’t listen when people tell you that fiction is a waste of time. Fiction is a description of the goals we should aim for. Read a book about an honorable defender of the faith lately? I did. Described a character so upright, forthright and chock full of honor and strength that I idolized him. I just watched the latest Batman movie, and ended up researching Neitzche just to see if there was much corollary between his writings and the thoughts that the Joker character provoked in my mind.

In short, fiction is just human inspiration in an ideal environment. Don’t like reality much? That’s because people don’t apply their ideals to their environment nearly as much as they used to. Try to do that. You just might change the world.

P.S.

We really could use more fiction-turned-reality. Imagine how much less moaning and groaning we’d hear about Obama or Clinton’s latest thing, or the latest gay marriage debate, or the next role for Justin Timberlake, if we had 80-foot-tall carnivorous spiders rampaging across the countryside!

OMG! ME TOO! I’m reading the sequel to Twilight by Stephanie Meyer and now I just want to be a vampire!

Fall in love with someone in the real world. That is the one thing that has managed to keep my mind on this plane of existence. Otherwise…

I’m sick of reality too…but it has it’s moments…you know? I guess if we all lived in fantasys then it wouldn’t be such a big deal to get a “happily ever after”…unless you’re in Edgar Allen Poe fantasy/book…then you’re pretty much done for

Forget Poe. Want to be grateful reality isn’t fiction? Read Lovecraft. :P
