life help: I am trying to help my younger sister find her dad whom she has never met. - Help.com

I am trying to help my younger sister find her dad whom she has never met.

My mother and he lived together in California about 35 years ago, which is how old my sister is. My mother was pregnant when she left him in California. I remember I called him Ted, but my mother says his real name is something like Toufic Hourich Ishmael (sp?). He is from Jerusalem and he had brothers that lived in California at that time as well, and his family owned a liquor store in California. I remember going camping with my mother and Ted with a Chuck and Loretta DeWoody and Larry and Marty Powell. I remeber I liked him very much and my sister would like to meet him at least once in her life to at least ask about health issues. If anyone knows anything about any of these people, but especially Ted, I would be very greatful for the help.

Hi, I wish I could offer more help, but there are over 3 million people in San Diego county alone. I personally don’t know anyone by any of those names.

What I would try is http://www.intelius.com/; they do charge a fee for info on people (they usually only have public records available), but you can usually get the contact info on people if you know their names. Since you aren’t sure about your sister’s dad’s name spelling, you might want to look for Chuck and Loretta DeWoody and Larry and Marty Powell and see if you can find them; then see if they kept in touch with him. I don’t recall how much it is, but you can pay a certain amount to look up as many people as you want within 24 hours. You might try that, and aside from looking for the DeWoodys and Powells, try every possible spelling of her dad’s name.

A private detective could probably also find him, but that might be expensive.

Best of luck!

lol. Sounds like America’s Most Wanted. But an easier way to do it, is look him up in the white pages. That’s how my uncle found his dad after so many years. Everyone’s in the white pages now a days. Wouldn’t hurt to try if you haven’t already. Good luck.
