No Fears?

So me and my friends are talking the other day, and we get on the topic of one of us who has an intense fear of throwing up. As we’re talking about it everyone starts saying their fears, then whey come to me, i can’t think of anything.

They all insist that i have to be afraid of SOMETHING, but i really dont think so. Then everyone keeps telling me that that’s weird, and everyone MUST be afraid of something…

Any thoughts?

Yeah I think everyone has to be scared of something, fear is good to, it holds us back from doing something really stupid or can aid us with adrenaline.

Absolutely fantastic, if you have no fears that is a great place to be in. What are your beliefs about reality, i know there is a way of transending fear

maybe you just haven’t come across the ’something’ that you fear yet. so, you might not fear anything at this moment in your life, but you’ll go through some experiences where you’ll suddenly realise your fears.

I guess thats possible, maybe a dragon will come and bite my arms off, and ill suddenly be afraid of dragons, but i doubt it.

haha my beliefs about reality, that would take a while.
I guess it just comes down to that i just live life for the purpose of living and enjoying it, so im not truly afraid of anything?

that didnt really make sense, but i dont know how else to word it…

yeah…I’m not really afraid of anything either. most fears are pretty irrational so I just chalk it up to be rational…so you can too! :)

Most people fear public speaking more than death !! I think if we can believe subjective rality as apposed to objective that can be good

depends on what kind of fears you were talking about. Fear of spiders and snakes can be overcome… even fear of death can be overcome with religion. The fear of the unknown can be overcome to some extent.

But trust me, you are not totally fearless. There is something and you will discover it when you least expect it… or you will be more honest with yourself when you least expect it. I was not afraid of dieing… and then I had a heart attack… I was not afraid of my death for spiritual reasons, but I was terribly afraid of leaving my young children without a father. Many are afraid of being alone. Can you imagine the feeling of not being loved? Isolated in the world? That scares the crap outta me.

Sometimes our fears are so deep, we don’t realize they are fears. I wonder how the Donner party felt. Starving to death, and Billy-bob is over there dead in the snow. Would you be afraid to eat him? Afraid NOT to eat him? things that make you go HMMMMMM.

i hope you are not bragging though fearless guy/ girl. anyway, maybe you are still young to have encountered the thing that you will fear. just thinking it will not suffice. experiencing it is the real thing. so not until you had experience it and swallowed and embraced it, you are still a typical boy/ girl.

That is exactely like i said. dcb_707 is educating you by saying that you will fear in the future, if this goes into your subconcious mind, you will fear in the future. Most parents tell their kids that life is a nightmare and is a real struggle, the kid grows up to see a nightmare of a life and struggles throughout, no coincedence.
Richard bransons parents told him he would be a success and he is ?? No coincedence. We really need to lookat what we are teaching our children. With the knowledge we have today about how the mind works we should encourage others that are succesful, even if the success is not feeling fear.

no, not similar points. i beg to disagree. i am not educating him/ her to fear in the future. what i am trying to point out is thinking fear is totally different from experiencing the real thing. when you get through the experience yet still embraced it wholly without fear, that is when you will know whether or not you are fearless on that particular thing.

and beside i am not his/her parent who could instill/ educate him/her to fear in the future. and that is why the use of the word “maybe”. that maybe he is still too young. that maybe he will fear/not in the future. or maybe he is still inexperience w/ life. a lots of maybe really.

Fear exists. It is a defense mechanism to any and all healthy egos. To many fear is the opposite emotion to Love. To say we can program fear out of our children, while it may be a true statement (although I believe a very slim chance) it would be folly in my opinion. The end result would be an unhealthy ego unable to protect itself from that which should be feared. If you have a rattlesnake hissing and rattling under your feet, you dang well best be afraid of it.

Teaching positive self worth and positive self development does not mean getting rid of fear. I’m willing to bet if we asked Tony Robbins, James Ray, Jack Canfield, James Brown… any of those guys if they had any fears, I’ll bet they would say yes. The trick is not about having fears… the trick is not letting our fears stopping us from achieving that which we truly want or need to achieve.

haha woahhh “dcb” thats not really something you CAN brag about… and i definitely wasn’t

it could be possible one day a tree will fall on me and from that day on, i will be deathly afraid of trees. All im saying is that right now at this moment, i dont have anything that im afraid of.

i get what youre saying, that even though for example i say im not afraid of sharks, if one day a shark bites my fingers off, from that day on i MIGHT be afraid of sharks, but what im saying here is that i live my life in a way to live it to the fullest, and that i dont spend my time fearing things.
