How to get cats off your car?

Well I love cats and all, but I’ve been having trouble with cats jumping on top of my hood for a while now. Apparently they love to jump on top of my warm hood at night to get cozy and sometimes fall asleep on it too! I know they are my neighbor’s cats, and I’ve mentioned the problem to them, but they haven’t done anything about it.

I was wondering if there there was such thing as a kitty deterrent I can get to shoo away these pesky cats. They leave paw marks all over my car.

It’s not a HUGE deal, I could live with it.. but I’d be nice to find a solution to my “problem”. Thanks!

Cats (like dogs) are usually repelled by the scent of citrus. Though you may be disinclined to smear citronella all over your car, I have used it for puppy training, and it is guaranteed to be an effective deterrent.

Alternatively, if you have an electical outlet outside near your car, there are high-decibel auditory deterrents (which also repel dogs). Some of these include triggers based on motion sensors. You should be able to find these at hardware stores or perhaps even pet stores.

erik, that’s exactly what I was looking for. I may try the citrus thing and see how that works. Thanks a lot!
