Okay, I need to get emancipated.

My story is too long to post on here, and the long and short of it is that I am trapped in an unhappy relationship and I can’t get out, for fear of my own physical and mental well-being. I’m 17 and I live in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Can someone please help me? ASAP?

I’m not really being held against my will, but my boyfriend’s mother has legal guardianship of me. If I leave here, I have to go back to my abusive parents. I don’t have many choices beyond emancipation…
I hate staying in a relationship that I am unhappy in. I know I’m not the smartest person for doing it in the first place, but I desperately needed to get out of my parents’ house… Please help?

If you really need to get emancipated, you need to go to court and show that you can actually support yourself. That you can have an apartment by yourself, that you can actually become a productive member of society. It’s going to take money, lots of it for you to go out on your own. Unless you are ready to show a family judge that you can actually take care of yourself with a job, education, or some kind of support then that’s the only way you can go out on your own. But, since in your state probably you are considered an adult, you could probably just get out of the house without emancipation. How you are going to make it on your own it’s another story.

When I was 16 I went and got the emancipation form. I didn’t have to tell them anything but “gimme the form” :P
But my parents refused to sign it.
I don’t know if I would have been emancipated if they’d have signed it or if there would have been more to go through - like getting it approved by the court.
I was under the impression at the time, though, that all I had to do was get my parents to sign it and I’d be free.

My name is Sandra, im 16 years old , I turn 17 in april 23 of 2010. I need to know if I can get emancipated. My and my parents are going trough so much things for the simple fact that I am homosexual. The don’t accept it so we don’t get along, we argue almost everyday because of it and it has gotten physical at times. I have tried getting help by going to therapy but it doesn’t work at all. I don’t know what else I could do. I feel like Ima go crazy here. If I get emancipated I will have a place to stay and I do have a job so I can support myself. I need help please.
