Where were you?
You can also watch events on Help.com as they happen
Well you can start by fixing you diet.
You know just simply eat healthier, you don’t need to starve yourself, just eat more things that are good for you in the right portion size. :]
You could also start by exercising on a regular basis. :]
Join a gym and eat better
Write a list of exercises you have to do every day, and do it.
Fast for 40 days and you WILL lose a lot of weight.

Don’t suggest that. Extreme fasting can lead to anorexia.
you are not serious…dont listen to that person..that is unhealthy be like me and exercise and eat in moderation..oo and to sports and outdoor activitiesdfdfdfsghjhgf wrote:

how long have you been doing that for ?
Fasting is good for cleansing the body and it has spiritual and religious advantages.
what?

He didn’t ask about religion; he asked about losing fat.
Well if you fast you will lose fat and become more spiritual. Two birds with one stone.
thankyou vilen..you took the words right out of mouth
dfdfdfsghjhgf wrote:

We don’t want to make him more “spiritual.” And fasting has several disadvantages, while exercise has none.
Do outdoor activities like sports and eat better…trust me you will see improvment

Oh, you’re welcome. ;)
Do you guys haveany good excersice routines i can do that i will enjoy thanks for the advise
People can literally drop dead from exercising… no one has been know to drop dead from a little fasting.
I run like 4 times a week and im always outdoors doing things with my friends. Sports for me are key to being healthy

Go to barns and noble and buy this book
http://www.amazon.com/Body-Sculpting-…
I was 220lbs at age 14. I started following the book and got down to 170, with a body fat percentage of around 18. I havent really been exorcising like I should so I’m back up to 180 and my body fat is back up to 25 but if I got back on the horse I could get back down in about two months. If you do exactly what this book tells you to do you’ll get what you want.
thats impressive
thak you all ;)

It was practically a miracle. I was also on a lot of meds at the time which contributed to the weight and I’m sure the fact that I stopped taking them had a lot to do with it but I’m serious about how amazing this book is. I remember when I first started following the books plan. When I started the most I could lift was 130. By the third month I bench 215lbs. I looked in the mirror and was like “OMG! I can make my pecks dance!” lol. I know its stupid but I had never been able to do that before and It was a massive boost to my self esteem.
Not to many things impress me and that really does lol…how long did it take you to lose the weight

about 4 or 5 months to get down to 180, then I plateaued for a few more months. I kicked my diet into overdrive but kept the same workout routine, and got down to 170. I was probably at my peak when I was 16. I’ve developed a testosterone deficiency and I have to work twice as hard just to keep myself at this level. They dont know whats causing it, since I’m only 17 and every other aspect of my health is textbook perfect. I have to work three times harder just to stay where I’m at. I’m going to get injections soon though so hopefully that will fix my t-levels permanently, and then I can really get into shape.

I’m a little chubby. But yea, i’m in shape. Not the kind of shape that I’d like to be in though. I wont be happy until my fat percentage is down to 13 or 14. Its at about 20-23 right now.
Start by cutting out ALL soda, milk especally if you drink 1 or 2%, fast food, snack food and start to exercise, drink lots of water and run as much as possible. Continue to eat 3 meals a day but nothing but water in between.
good luck

3 sets of 12 reps of moderately heavy weights NO MORE THAN 3 times a day is what the doctor recommends.

I was doing 5 sets of 10 on the benchpress daily. And on the last set I would go to my max weight. I would also do 10 sets of 10 curls…again, on the last set I would do as much weight as possible. Every other day.
Look around at some bodybuilders. They all have testosterone deficiency either from the weights or the drugs..
we aren’t talking about body builders we are talking about average people trying to get in or stay in shape
I’m well-balanced. I lift weights and work out, and I’m fine.
Im going to sleep… Exercise is bad without sleep.

Extreme fasting will not lead to anorexia, as you will not ingrain that way of eating into your mind and as soon as it’s over, the weight will creep back on. Nothing will have changed.
You need something long term, for shizz.

This is true But also,.If its done too much or too often it can also destroy the metabolism rendering a person unable to lose weight at a later age.Moderation is key.
Take a look @ fatspace I have been there, I lost 146 pounds just watch what you eat and move more that’s all there is to it.
For the first year I ate the serving size on food and used the Food Pyramid as a guideline for meat and other servings. It really works.
hello,im sarah,i live in Scotland,Uk.
where u from?
from ur age,I guess ur mum buys ur food?
u need to teach urself and the person that buys the food u eat, what food ur body needs to work properly and how much.
maybe u could vist ur doctor?
i tell my self that the things that taste great r probably not good for me but fresh veg and fruit tht dont taste so great but that is what ur body needs.
like a car needs petrol or a pc needs software and drivers.
try to do something everday that gets u out of breath, even if u just walk quickly untill u r out of breath.time urself the first time then after week of walking the same distance, time uself again, regular excersie helps the body break down fat even when ur be lazy.
It probably took you 17 years to gain the weight, so don’t expect to loose it over night. Don’t get desperate… take it slow. See a doctor make sure you’re healthy. Get off the computer, turn off the TV and get walking.
Good luck!!
1. You should sue your parents and your doctor for not looking out for your welfare. Perhaps even sue child protection services. Their irresponsibility is going to cause tones of serious health effects over the course of your lifetime.
2. You should join a gym, try out for the football and rugby team if your school has one.
3. Get a good bike and hit the trails. When you are light enough start jogging even if its only a few blocks at a time. You need to build your cardio up.
4. Go swimming. Swimming works your whole body and is a tough workout.
5. Fix your diet. Make a chart of what you actually need in terms of calories. Add up the content of the food you eat. Its like GI Joe said - knowing is half the battle.
5. Here is the most important thing - Combine weights with cardio.
Your skeletal muscle is your engine. Your fat is your fuel. The more muscle you build the more fuel you need to run your body. Its not hard to build muscle. People who are prone to being fat are also prone to building muscle. Use what you have.
Combining the two things is key. If you have more muscle you will burn more calories during the day even if you are sitting still.
6. Get some dumbbells, don’t use barbells. Get the adjustable kind from york. You will develop more symmetrically and you will develop stronger, more defined and mobile muscle. Learn every exercise possible. With dumbbells and running/biking/swimming you can work out your entire body without having to go to a gym if you cant afford one or its not convenient.
7. Stretch a lot.

Are you serious? What kind of person sues other people over menial crap like this!? Its people like that (those who are sue happy) that make life harder then it needs to be.
Everything else purelogix said is exactly right though.
Look. I haven’t read the whole post. 70% of your current weight is from diet, 20% is from your level of physical activity, and 10% is hereditary. Guess which one you should get under control first? Reduce your sugar intake (far more important and far less dangerous than cutting carbs) and stick to foods that are on the parimeter of your grocery store: that’s where the real food resides, the fruit and vegetables, the dairy, the meat, the bakery (the odd landmine in the bakery, but you know that). Avoid the food in the aisles: processed crapola. And drink two cups of water before you go to bed, 2 cups right after you wake up, and 2 cups before every meal. Good luck.
WOWWWWWWWW lots of people replied to this.
:D
welllll,
try snacking rather than eating.
NOT ON BAD SNACK FOODS.
on normal foods.
it will keep you from getting really really hungry and if you plan it you’ll be able to take in the right ammount of calories each day.
i dunno how tall you are but i’m 5′7″ 230 14 years old
and i lost 20 pounds already :D
i eat 5 snacks of 300 calories each day
i ride my bike a lot
and i do yoga.

Bad parenting is never a menial thing. Especially in cases where children’s health is seriously effected. Childhood obesity should be a crime. How tall is this guy?
I know a guy who weighs that much and he is like 7 feet tall. Unless this chap is a giant then he probably has a very unhealthy amount of fat.
I’ve struggled with my body image all my life and have never quite been happy with it. A couple months ago a family member got me the “6 week body makeover.” I used it and saw immediate results! At first it was a bit shocking for my system because I jumped right in, but it has been the only thing that has helped me. It kept me on track, and organized, as well as kept me thinking positively about weight loss… if you can afford to get it, go to www.provida.com and check it out. I’ve went down almost 2 sizes, and people comment on “how much weight” I’ve lost… which also scares the heck out me, thinking well how big was I before? Then entire plan consists of a new eating plan plus exercises, all geared toward what you want YOUR dream body to look like. It would definitely help if your family and friends could get on at least the exercise plan with you… the awesome thing, they also have tips on what to eat when you go out for almost every type of restaurant you can think of… I called it my diet bible hehe.. anyway, please look into it. Talk to your parents about how you feel and maybe they can help you out, it’s definitely worth it. :) GOOD LUCK! If you want to buy it and have any questions about the program just ask me… it’s a pretty big investment to make and I’d want you to be sure before you bought it.

Thats a great website. I use the running calculator to figure out how fast I ran.
Hey how’s it going? I’m 22 years old and weigh 180 lbs. I weighed about 210 freshmen year of High School, and no it wasn’t muscle weight :P.
Diets do not work. Sure, you can cut weight temporarily on a diet, but the second you stop that diet, your body will start reverting to it’s old way. First and foremost, you need to develop a healthy lifestyle. This includes proper eating and regular training, both in cardio and weight lifting. Sports and such work well as an extra activity, but a permanent system of healthy diet and workouts are the foundation of success.
I would start by going to www.bodyforlife.com. This is an excellent fool-proof program that I have been following on and off for a couple years. They tell you truth about what you need to know about diet and exercise, and don’t feed you any ‘miracle diet’ crap. They also have lots of articles about both diet and training that are extremely informative and helpful.
What you first need to realize is that your diet is 80% of your weight problem. You are what you eat. Exercise is icing on the cake, it uses the food that you put into your body and converts its form into whatever is necessary for a given process (i.e. protein synthesis, insulin loading, simple and complex carbohydrates, etc.)
Please check out that website, it can help you build a solid foundation lifestyle.
Some no-nos:
Alcohol. Lot’s of drinking = lot’s of weight. If you must drink, drink in moderation. Red Wine, however, it’s actually healthy for the blood. Doctors recommend a glass a day.
Processed, Boxed, and Frozen Foods. These all tend to be loaded with sodium and carbs that rank hi on the glycemic index. High GL carbs are usefull for high energy activities, but are bad when you’re just eating them and sitting around.
Foods high in saturated and trans fat. These are a no no. Trans and Saturated fats can’t be completely avoided, but foods that tend to have a high amount of it includes cheese, creams, and other dairy products in general. Go with the low-fat alternatives (ie. skim milk, loyfat yogurt, fat-free cheese etc).
*personally I think fat free cheese sucks, so I avoid it altogether. But this is just a personal preference.*
Stick with your naturally grown foods. I do not necessarily mean organic foods. low-GL carbs like fruits and vegetables that are high in fiber are excellent. I eat broccoli, carrots, spinach, and tomatoes daily. These will give you your basic energy for a normal day. The fiber digests slower and you won’t be getting hungry as quickly. Bananas, Apples, Blueberries, and Raspberries are also great, though these are higher in natural sugars than their vegetable counterparts
Lean Meats are good. Eggs, Turkey, Chicken, and Fish are brilliant. These provide the protein necessary for protein synthesis post-work out, and are lower in Fat than Steak, Beef, etc. Fish is probably the best, but also the hardest to come by given the price. Eggs, Turkey and Chicken are excellent alternatives.
I’ll also eat a cup of lowfat yogurt pre-workout, about half an hour before I hit the gym. This provides me with a good base of hi GL crabs to be used for the workout. During the workout I’ll have a gatorade diluted with water for constant energy. The sugar in the gatorade is very hi on the Glycemic Index, and metabolizes very quickly. This is a good strategy for high-intensive workouts. It sustains you and allows you to keep going, putting off fatigue.
After my workout I’ll eat half of a baked potato for carb loading to replace the energy stores that were lost during the high intensity work out.
This is the way I do it. I hope some of these tips help ya! But please, check out that website! And if you want to know more about it feel free to message me.
I want to help you and its going to be hard for you, but I believe in easing into this and taking it one step at a time. First, if you drink soda, coffee or black teas (which means anything with white or green tea leaves as well) you need to cut all that from your diet. You don’t have to cut anything else out for about 2 weeks, just those, that will be hard enough. To help with sugar cravings, go to a health food store like whole foods and buy some chromium (completely harmless and will cut your sugar cravings) You also need to get a good form of acidophilus which will also help with the sugar cravings. If you do this, then you can start with a decent diet that will help you crave the right foods that your body really needs. I have an over active thyroid and fast metabolism and crave food all the time, so i understand bad food cravings. Your going to want to not cut food out of your life, just replace the food your eating now with the right foods. I have successfully cut all sugar from my diet and am very careful about the sweets i do eat. Your going to want to replace all your regular ingredients in your house that you cook with. Use honey to replace sugar, and use oat and whole wheat flowers over all-purpose flowers. When i am in the stores and craving something sweet, I have found Kashi’s TLC Oatmeal cookies to be a great alternative to artificially sweetened and sugar sweetened stuff. One side note, do not eat or buy anything that has Splenda or Aspartame as a sweetener, your better of with sugar compared to those. Kashi uses Brown rice syrup and evaporated cane juice, which is fine, but its better if your cooking for yourself. Now for your regular foods. You need to replace white rice with brown rice, and eat as much as you want of it. Limit your red meats and eat as much fish as you can, especially salmon. There are some awesome recipes out there to make fish taste wonderful if your not a big fish fan. I love to bake my fish with coconut oil, garlic powder, and some lime juice. If you like cilantro than you can flavor all your grains and fishes with it. Cut greasy foods from your diet with nutritious foods. Food is wonderful, when its real. The reason you are gaining weight is because your starving your body of nutrition. Starving yourself stresses your body out just as much as eating junk, thats why a lot of people who starve themselves a lot and then start eating again, actually have trouble with weight gain. Nutrition is the only thing that will help the body maintain the perfect weight.
You also do not want to be eating any of this soy garbage out there like soy hot dogs, burgers, milk, and cheese. Soy is only good in particular forms which are hard to come by. Its hard to avoid soy though, because its put in everything in all sorts of forms. Be conscious of your ingredients on all the products you buy in the store. Drink lots of water, i can’t emphasize that enough. Keep health food snakes that you know will prevent you from craving the wrong things around the house and to take to work with you, and always pack a wholesome meal for lunch when going to work, because you may be tempted to eat from the snack machines if you didn’t pack enough food to keep you from wanting that stuff. Change what breads you buy as well. Buy whole grain breads. Its not easy to just change your diet just like that. Don’t think that eating a skimpy salad with no meat is going to help you lose weight, you need to feed yourself well, and train your mind and body to completely rid yourself of processed foods and greasy foods. Use coconut or palm oil to cook with, grease your cookies sheets with butter not pam, and grease your bread and other pans with coconut or vegetable oil and lecithin. There are so many things you have to change to lose the weight. Don’t start extreme exercise first either, ease into it. Start taking one walk a day, extending the lengths of the walk daily as you get used to it, and once you start to feel actually ready for breaking into a small jog, then go for it, but take it easy and never overdo anything. You also need to do your best to eliminate as much stress from your life as you possibly can, stress is a major factor in weight gain, and not feeding your body nutrition doesn’t help much either. If work or school is stressing you out to much, or friends and family, than you need to find an outlet from it and maybe limit the amount of time around the things that stress you out most. Take a hot bubble bath with soft music daily if you have to until you can limit that stress, whatever it is. I think once you change your diet and start doing the simple daily walks and take out more personal time for you then you will find that will help you handle the other stress better. And most important, as cliché’ as it sounds, Believe in yourself, believe that you can overcome your weight and stress in your life and that no one can stop you, and that all negative people in your life don’t matter, all that matters is your success and becoming the person you want to be. Be confident! I want the best for you and i believe in you, your reaching out for help on here is the first sign of that step of confidence that exists in you, and the first step to achieving what you want.
lol, I think I nearly wrote a book. If you want any recipes from me or any more nutrition advice, just click on my “name” and it will take you to my profile and just send me a shout. My email is also mountainashfairy at yahoo if you you prefer.
ha ha, its late, i just realized i said “flowers” when i should have said “flours” lol. I think i need to go to bed.
one last important thing i should mention, Make sure you eat a healthy protein filled breakfast every day. Never skip breakfast and never eat sugar in your breakfasts. That is a huge key in overcoming weight problems. If you start your day right with plenty of good proteins like oatmeal or eggs, than you can really have a steller day as well as help yourself over come your weight.
ok, i’m going to bed now, send me a shout if you want any recipes or more nutrition adivce of any kind. :)
I’d love to share my favorite recipes with you and know that you enjoy them as much as i do.
I have lost 130lbs. Here’s the short version.
1. Fasting ultimatly makes you fatter- It’ll just slow your metabolism MORE than it all ready is.
2. No one is fat simply because they haven’t heard “diet and excersice” enough. I always hated that one. I wasn’t stupid.
3. Figure out WHY you are overweight. Is it glandular? Get your blood work done. Is it compulsive eating? That’s what it was for me, I’ve been in Overeaters Anonymous for 5 yrs and it has saved my life. All the good eating advice and fancy low fat recipes in the world aren’t going to help if you are battling an addiction.
Good Luck
I am a personal trainer I have helped many people. I know i can help you. I need to know how you eat, and what you eat. Do you work out? So you know im serious look at my pics on my space at www.myspace.com/fitnesskelly I can put you on a training program that will make you lose the weight for $40.00 per month. you can email me at i> small>(email removed) /small> /i>
One pound of fat contains 3500 food calories.
This is the equivalent of a day and a half worth of food. So theoretically, if you ate nothing and starved for a week, you would lose 5 pounds of fat (but don’t try it, the body doesn’t work that way).
So if you don’t see much change over a couple of days, don’t be surprised. Since you know what to do now and how to follow through, it’s all up to your willpower now. Fight!
ok heres what i do to stay in shape i currently play basketball for AAU a like pro league for teens i make a diet plan write the amount of fruits veggies meat and bread that i eat i make sure i eat exatly what i write down for that day that ammount of foods i can have then i excerisce find something fun to exercise for me its basketball find a sport maybe football? you said you were big maybe you could be good a football coaches are always looking for someone strong and big.

glued to this one. for the overweight issue has been a problem too. websites you mentioned are good. especially caloriesperhour.com and cdc.gov. thanks for the infos!
as for me, i tried going to the gym. was motivated on the onset but really gotten bored in the process. i tried to eat healthy, making myself aware on what i buy on the grocery. worked on the onset, but cravings set in and so i bade goodbye to healthy eating and back to my old ways again. i really eat a lot. as in a lot. when i was younger i burned all that i eat (never been overweight.) but since maids were afforded and unlimited quantity of foods were bought, my sedentary lifestyle set in. and it’s doing me no good really. i now weigh 179 lbs. i am 30 lbs heavier my ideal weight. i eat for variety of reasons - ie. hungry (physically and emotionally,) bored, etc. to sum it all. all a person needs is determination and focus. and sad to say. i really lack it now. oh! but i will never give up trying though. i will still work on it. and hopefully give a good advice on the issue soon :p
On July 27, 2007, I weighed 196 pounds. Yesterday, I was 150. On New Year’s Eve, I was 150. I lost 46 pounds in 5 months and it’s been off since.
From July to December, I targeted a daily caloric intake of 1750 - 2000 calories per day. I started marching to and from the train station (I take the train to work), a distance of 1.5 miles each way. I started working out. Now, I follow the CrossFit workout of the day ( http://www.crossfit.com/ ), which I can do on my own. I went hiking a lot at the beginning and now I do the WOD every day (other than “Rest Day”). The advantage this program has is that it’s free, you can scale it to your ability and equipment access, and it’s constantly varied. Routine is the enemy. Adaptability wins the battle.
In order to scale those workouts, I administered myself an Army Physical Fitness Test ( http://www.army.com/enlist/APFT.html ), did my 196 pound best, and averaged the three events for my scaling percentage (in my case, 45%). Since then, I’ve nearly doubled my APFT score, cut almost ten minutes off my two mile run time, and done more pullups than I can count.
Always onward, ever upward, brother. One thing that helped me was knowing my BMR ( http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-cal… ). I could more precisely target my diet knowing that number and using the Harris Benedict Formula. This helped me lose the weight faster and keeps me within bounds today.
Good luck.
