I once heard a quote that went along the lines of

“Everyone is suicidal, You have to be suicidal to live, To have the option of living , because you know you will die, And all you do is progress towards death, And in essence killing yourself. From every meal you eat to every breath you take, You are killing yourself.

You, me, him, her, we are all suicidal we just don’t know it, and those that figure it out, speed the process up a bit.”

What do you think of this? Do you think its pesimistic? Or in someways the truth?

I can see the point it makes, but I disagree. Just because you are going to die eventually doesn’t necessarily mean that you WANT to die. Huge difference.

Hey! Helpbot helped me through some troubled times, my friend. He’s both and inspiration and downright smexy.

I think it’s wrong, actually. Just that bit that those that figure it out speed it up. I figured it out around the age of 7 while watching a science channel show about how every breath kills you more. Which did wonders for me, I’m sure you can imagine. I more or less blinked and shrugged. Sure, death is coming. In the mean time, I’ll do something good now and then to make my life worthwhile.

Meanwhile those that are actually suicidal have a tendency to think that their lives are really worth nothing no matter what. I think what separates those that live and those that commit suicide is the feeling of hope. It’s very rare to find a suicidal person with that emotion, while hope is the lifeline of the living.

I think that with anything it is not clear cut- you can argue that it is true and you would be right… you could argue the opposite and that would also be correct- I think it is not the quote but the mindset behind it that determines the truth for the listener and the quoter…

another quote goes “The destination does not matter, only the journey to it.” don’t think of it as suicidal, working towards death, think of it as being, working for life.

true, so true. everything is different for everyone. but in answer to your question, yes, it is a bit pessimistic. that doesn’t mean its not the truth too, but it depends on how you look at it.
