I’ve been thinking about death a lot recnetly and it’s really scaring me.
Even if you go to heaven, won’t it be terrible to be there FOREVER??? Is there no end? It seems like I’d go insane, being anywhere for eternity. I’ve cried a few times because thinking about this scares me so bad. Death is so confusing to me. What’s going to happen to me?

I’m not considering suicide, this is just freaking me out. A lot.
Its all about the real answer, there is no begginging , and there is no end, begginings, endings and time dont exist, its all a perception
I can relate EXACTLY to you. I thought about this yesterday in fact, and I got really scared, and I’d probably explain it the exact same way you did. I don’t know what to think. Forever’s the scariest thing..
Thanks! I’m glad SOMEONE thinks the same way I do! If there’s no heaven, where do we go? Do we just do nothing forever? Is there no rest, like another death?
I think its basically down to fear, it really is a matter of dealing with the fear of death or the fear of living, strip it right back and see what you believe, let me know what you believe and perhaps i can help you to change that, not in a religious way
Well, if there was nothing after you die, then you wouldn’t notice.
and the thing about heaven is that all mortal fear, boredom and everything that would go to making forever daunting wouldn’t exist. So it wouldn’t seem like forever.
I know but, when we die, are we just gone??? Does our soul go anywhere, or is it dead too?

You must understand that there are no answers to these questions only perceptions. We are not physical beings, we mearly live in a physical body that is brain and body, the mind goes way way beyond this and i believe is part of the entire universe. There really is no real way your mind can die, only your physical body
i don’t know…what if there isn’t a heaven? who knows anything?! yeah, it is quite scary..but it’s quite exciting too! you can think up anything you want to happen for when you die. it’s not necessarily going to happen but who cares? i’d like to think you start life again, but you don’t remember this life. so, i couldv’t been a Queen in my former life!
or, when you die, there’s a whole new world for dead people, and it’s got different rules to this life, but it’s nothing too bad but nothing to luxurious either. but you know you’re dead…and you live underground.
ooo! another one! you become ghosts! we live with the living, only we’re invisible, and obviously the living ca’t see us but we can see them, and we can see other dead people…
just make something up that you want to happen, you’ll feel a little bit better at least.
unless, of course, you have religious views on death and you believe in heaven and hell, or reicarnation, but who knows what there is? it’s confusing and quite intruiging…
Everything is so complicated. What if you don’t believe in that? I wonder what really hapens. I don’t know exactly what to believe in, but I feel like I should, just for my own comfort? It’s hard. And scary.
This is clearly a difficult topic, all I can give you I my personal feelings on the subject.
As I see it, everything is in constnat change. The whole universe is shifting constantly. If we do go to this one place, I don’t think it will be as constant as you think. If there is a heaven - i’m calling on the typical christian description that we’re given here as I assume that’s what you mean- think of all the people going into it. As this world has changed it must be changing there. In a lifetime the world can change vastly, not just from huge global things but you’re own perspective. No matter what is next, if there is anything, I don’t think it will be as eternal as you think. If there is nothing then it will be like going to sleep and not being conscious of your dreams…just nothing…I don’t think that sounds so bad.
As for the question of where does the soul go, that’s only answerable by you and your beliefs. Many would argue there’s no such thing.
When you are in heaven, you will exist outside of Time. There will be no past, present or future . . .
Some years ago, I had a dream in which I saw Jesus standing at the gates to heaven. The gates were narrow, and Jesus stood there with his arms stretched out. He said to me, “There are many mansions in My Father’s house; they are waiting for you.”
I believe that. Place your faith in God and believe what His Son told us in His ministry on earth, and your worries about life after death and eternity will evaporate.
Yeah, it probably wouldn’t seem like forever, but you know…
Maybe there’s reincarnaton or something, so we never REALLY die, just the one person we are at the time does. Oh, I don’t know, it’s scary.
Sir Cody
I wish I could completely believe that, and I kind of do, but what if we DON”T go to heaven or hell?
xNA
Yeah, sometimes I like to think that if there is Heaven, it can be anything you want it to be…you could go back in time and be different people, or be able to fly, or something. Or be reincarnated
chev.jame
that’s a nice dream
I’m at a point where I’m just not so sure about religion. I’m 14.
It is comfusing because there is no answer, there is only the meaning you give it.

here is the problem with “what if’s” they aren’t what IS
so so right we create the what if’s and turn them into the what is. Its a matter to be honest of seeing what you believe as apposed to believing what you see
You’re right, I never thought about “what ifs” like that before.
Thanks, everyone. I feel a bit better

i’m 15 and i’ve just given up on religion. i know that doesn’t sound too good, but i hate having to choose between religions. who knows what right anymore?! who knows if anything’s right? no one can honestly say as a fact that their religion is the right one.
I agree! People can believe what they want, but nothing’s fact.. that’s why it scares me.
I see that there are a few relativists here. You guys say that either you can’t ever know until you die or just make something up. The natural law of right and wrong. there are facts. Case in point- It is never okay to push your grandmother down the stairs to kill her. It is never right. therefore that in and of itself proves that there is right and wrong.
If there is right and wrong then there must be something to decide what is right and what is wrong. In other words a standard.

Yep no one should really say they ‘ARE’ Christian or ‘ARE’ Catholic or anything. They really shouldnt make a religion there identity. If you do you narrow your thinking you really tie yourself up. Its much better to stay completely open minded to all beliefs and not get ridgedly attached to one.
xNA
Religion confuses me a lot because every culture is so convinces that THEIR religion is right. I don’t think one religion is right, and all the onthers wrong. In most religions, there is one big powerful god, and some saints. Christianity is like Egyptan religion was, because in Egypt there was the Aten or something, which was the most powerful one, and all the smaller gods, like saints. And Set, who was evil, so that’s like the devil. So maybe all the religions have the basic same idea, but diffrent names fot the saints/smaller gods.
Yeah. Religions are more alike than people think.

exactly! that’s what I think too
Religion is weird. I suppose it’s a good thing, but it’s so confusing and weird.
Did you know that the Bible is the only book on the face of the earth that claims to be God’s word.

Right and wrong is just a perception and a sign of the times. If you saw some one being hang in the street today you would freak out, you would say it was wrong, couple hundred years ago it was the kids sunday entertainment, children were killed all the time because they couldnt afford to feed them, that would be blatent murder today, does that make sense

that’s not true. there’s also the Quran, the Torah and..others that i forget but they all claim to be God’s word.
Thanks so much, everyone, I actually feel better now.
why the point in being scaird of the only one thing that we are guaranteed in life?
Dammit, ok this is a bit late now but i’ll send it anyway. I Hope it gives a little bit of help in some form. I wish I could type faster :(
I think everyone goes through this stage of panic about what comes next. When I went through it I was young and terrified my parents. I kept reporting dreams of their death an begging for them never to leave me, and I know even now my 20 year old friend gets himself into an unconsolable state when this topic comes up…which leads on to my next point…
I understand you’re terrified and questioning. It’s only human to wonder. While you get your answers though, remember to focus on life itelf too. Life isn’t about wondering what comes next, it’s living in the here and now. Don’t drag yourself into a pit of despair. You’re young hunnie, you’ve still got so much to come. Your answers will come to you, eventually you will know what you believe and be at peace with it. For now, yes keep asking around, it will help you find out about yourself. But please, don’t forget to enjoy life. There’s still many things here you’ve yet to find out! “What comes next” will come in it’s rightful time, and it’s no where near your time yet. Youv’e still yet to find out what makes you YOU, who exactly are you and where you want to go. With a lot of people around me i’ve fiund that that those answers gave the answers to the questions you’re asking. If you find yourelf getting too stressed/upset/bogged down in these impossible to answer questions then take a step back, take a breath and focus on something happening NOW.
In the end, I just took into account all the different religion’s teachings and I use them when I need too. Not all of them can be right, but some of them seem to have the right idea about certain things.

Can you tell me where in the Koran? also the Torah is part of the Bible
no, but that’s probably because i don’t know the Quran well enough to quote from it. but, i’m sure if you were to ask a Muslim who knows his/her stuff, you could ask them to quote it for you. and i’ve no doubt that they will because i’ve heard and seen them do it many times. as i’ve heard and seen Christians quote from the Bible. people don’t say things without proof when it comes to religion and always tend to quote from their ‘books’.
and sorry, lol, i’m not too clued up with all this…which is why I didn’t know the Torah was part of the Bible, lol, my bad.
Which religion is right?
Judge by their fruits . . . the adherents of WHAT religion seek to spread it through peaceful means, who teach that all people are equal before God, and who teach the message that we are to love others as ourselves?
I think about this often, and it’s why it’s so hard for me to believe in anything.
I’m scared that when we die, that’s it.
Cody,
i have a friend on help.com, he’s a Muslim and he seems to know a lot of his religion. if you shout him, he could get back to you about this, but he’s away for a while and might not respond immediately, but no doubt he will once he’s back on help.com. =)
as am I, Evan. I can’t help being scared. I feel like when we’re dead, we’re dead. I don’t know how I got here, nor how I’ll leave. I’ve even thought about things like, suppose I’m not even real? I let my mind wander too far. I try not to think about it, but I do anyway. I just try to live life for what I think it’s intended for, to be happy and live to the fullest, and I believe in right and wrong. That’s about it..
Same here. I try not to think about it, and I’m sure when I get older that I will accept it. Death is weird, time is weird, higher beings-god-religion is weird. So many things that can’t be explained and never will be explained, so why try to figure it out?
yeah, exactly. There’s no way to figure it out. My brother told me that a lot of young kids who don’t have any organized religion or whatever don’t think about what’s going to happen when they die, because life just starts out. But older people get into religion more because as it’s possibly nearing the end of their life, they want something to believe in for reassurance. what do you think about that?
I try not to think about religion too much. I’m not atheist, but I don’t know that I believe either. Nothing has ever happened in my life to make me believe, to show me that there is a god/heaven. Many things in science disprove the existence of god/heaven, but then on the other hand, scientific theories are getting disproved themselves all of the time.
I say, if you’re going to believe in religion then you need to really believe and trust in it and not just follow it ‘just in case’ before you die.
That’s why I don’t have any organized religion. I can’t believe in something I’m not sure of.

So if I understand you correctly you mean that what ever we perceive is right. Well then my dear wayneandc I perceive that you are wrong.
Exactly.
I will wait for something unexplainable and amazing to happen in my lifetime that leads me to believeing.
i relate to that too! i in fact thougt about it it too.an eternity forever that confusing peculiar and scarier at the same time, i complety agree mike:)
Hey, I’m very scared about this. Quite recently, (The past few days) i have seriously been depressed and very scared of death and its for no reason at all, (im 16) i dont know why but i find myself crying when i look in the mirror bcause all i can think about is me dying and leaving every1 behind. i really think i need help if i cant stop thinking so badly about this and im scared to talk to my parents about this. please somebody give me a bit to go on. none of my family has died in my life so i dont know why im so bad about this! :’(
Your fears are quite normal for someone your age. Go ahead and talk to your parents. But I will tell you this: once you truly accept that you are a child of God and that He loves you, your fear of dying will recede into the background. At that point, you just concentrate on living the best life that you can, while taking ownership of the fact that you are on this earth for a purpose. When that purpose is fulfilled, you will be with all of your loved ones again . . . forever.
