how do you tell if people mean it?

how do you tell if people mean what they day when they compliment you, or are exceptionally nice to you?

i dont trust alot of people, but want to…. how do you know whether they are lieing, or telling the truth?

especially personal stuff and when it comes to someone who means alot to you, eg family or “crush”/ partner?

Just look for subtle signals, like over smiling, eye direction ect. Get good at reading people then you can relax.

I give new friends time to show their true colors before I disclose too much personal information. Trust takes time to develope. When it comes to family, unless the family member has given me reason to think that they are insincere, I belive what they say to me. A compliment is always accepted as an attempt to give me a good feeling. Why not just accept the compliment as the truth? I don’t see any harm in feeling good about myself.
