Calling all scientists.

I have a question concerning particle physics. Is an electromagnetic field made of the same matter as an electromagnetic pulse. A company I am with has developed a device that cancels out emf’s. This was not its intention, but rather it, the PowerworX e3, has been developed to reduce the need for electricity usage. It does so within the neighborhood of 8% to 35%. The fact that it cancels out an emf is quite the surprise. I am looking into other possible…applications. Essentially my question is this: what is the difference between emf’s and emp’s.

For those who don’t know an EMP is an electromagnetic pulse. If set off in a particular area any electronics in its range would be rendered inoperable and impossible to fix. If used anywhere it would cause catastrophic damage. As of right now there is no known way to stop an emp once it has started.

Well toadstone you it sounds that you know what you are talking about. As I stated in this post my company (ecoquestinternational) has developed a machine that reduces energy usage in the home. Supposedly it somehow cancels out emf. I was wondering what the implications would be if this were true.

hi im a particical physicist and work as a reasurcher so i can probably help you with any questions you might have. Just got back from holiday.
Toadstone has done a good job answering this one so far so im not sure my imput would give you any more insight.

The device to which you are refering is probably some sort of fariday cage a very common and well known device that can limit the proporgation of electromagnetic feilds. Such a device has been known about for years so it is probably the alplication of it that is the new product of your company. Basically with stray EM feilds running everywhere from electrical devices there is an increase in power outage by inductance. Put basically and electricity moving through a wire makes a feild and and wire can then be used to draw power from that feild, so you get energy waisted.

Need any more help or description let me know :)

We have for the most part sorted it out. It turns out that it just filters out emf in the home, it doesn’t totally eliminate it. Thanks for all your help you guys.
