Year help: back pains. - Help.com

back pains.

well in the past year ill wake up in the morning with a dull lower back pain. this wouldnt be every morning but enough to be annoying.

recently, over the course of the last few months ill wake up with it very often and its more intense. last night the pain woke me up from my sleep and i had to toss and turn to find a good position, but nothing helped. i eventually fell back asleep and the pain woke me back up in the morning and i just had to get out of bed cuz i couldnt stand it any longer. and the pain actually lasted through out the day as well.

i dont know what could cause this, i have a nice bed, its only 2 years old and it has a comfy memory foam pad thingie on it. my mom says shes going to get my a tempur pedic bed.. would that actually help?

i sleep on my side curled up a bit or on my stomach.

My ex had a foam bed too and she would have back pains as well. maybe the foam beds are too soft and not supportive enough. another thing might be to stretch. stretching your legs will ease back pains over time.

i thought that too but kidneys are more on either side, rather than the middle where my pain is.

so harder bed would be a better idea than a tempur pedic/foam bed?

Had yousuffered from any injury yr. ago? Lifted something too heavy? need more info? suffered a bad sprain once from heavy lifting, was treated for many mts.try placing a pillow under your legs while on your back, apply ice bags ,really, ice numbs the pain.

i think the tempur pedic is a strong foam. its the really soft squishy foams that seem to cause problems. maybe you should sleep on the floor a few nights see if the back pain goes away.

I’m not a fan of the memory foam myself because it’s all cushy when like down, and then you sink into one position where you must apparently lay for the rest of the night. By the time you wake up, it’s like Norman Bates. Creepy. It might be your mattress, but I’d consider seeing a chiropractor if the condition persists. He/She might have some better ideas on how you can improve your spinal posture at night.

thankss ima have to do thatt.
i hardly get any sleep as it is and to be waken up from my dumb back is so annoyingg

Sometimes rotating your mattress (putting the “head” part of the mattress where the “foot” would be while also taking the “top” side and rotating it over to make it the “bottom” side) can help work out lumps.

Ibuprofin.

You may have a slipped/bulging disc in your back. Yes, it can happen to you at your age. You’re not too young.

Hubby has had a bad back for years. Too much showing off heavy lifting when younger, twising when lifting does it too.

I thought I had a back of steel (yet was careful about my lifting technique) A month ago I was just lying on the floor watching TV. Just turned to my left side and OW! I mean, it was nothing. Nothing, and yet my back hurt terribly for 2 weeks! Ibuprofin helped a LOT. However it started making me feel ill (only took one every 4-6 hours) Stopped taking it and improved. Back is good, but I still feel stifness (not pain)

See your doc… better yet, a GOOD chiropractor (with references!) Good ones can really make a difference. Bad ones can at worst make things worse or simply waste your time with nothing

It is not all about the mattress! Or the truck seat, or the computer chair seat, or the lifting bla bla bla. Been there!

See your doc. Take an ibuprofin (reduces inflammation)

Ooh, I used to have lower back pain when I got up too. At first I thought it was because of weight-lifting, but I realized it only happened while I was in bed. It turned out to be a combination of how soft my bed was and my posture when I sleep. A couple of things you could try:

1.) Try sleeping without the memory foam cover. A little more support to your back should keep everything in line.
2.) Instead of sleeping on your stomach or side, try sleeping on your back. That helped me tremendously. If you do sleep on your side, or think you may roll on it anyway in the night, just put a pillow between your legs. It won’t help a TON, but it will keep whatever leg’s on top from pulling at your back muscles.
3.) Like everyone else said, exercise for your back and warm showers couldn’t hurt, though I never tried it myself.

I really hope it comes to an end for you. Back pain sucks.
