Thought help: I think I may have staph infection, but I’m not sure if it is or not. - Help.com

I think I may have staph infection, but I’m not sure if it is or not.

It was a pimple, and I’ve had staph and mersa before, and I thought it was just a pimple no my lower back but now I’m getting little bumps on my stomach.

Is this staph?

Yes… talk to your doctor because I doctor can rule out other possibilities such as allergic reactions to things.

If you suspect staph try Hibiclens. It is a surgeon’s wash that is available in some pharmacies or drug stores. It can be used for mild acne to surface staph - fights bacteria on the surface of your skin and will stay on your skin for up to 6 hours.

Well, as a nurse, I think her question is a good one. My son had a SUDDEN outbreak of acne on his back after visiting a college in the summer for a 4 day workshop. He did, however, sleep in his own sleeping bag and not in the college sheets, so I knew it wasn’t due to a new detergent. When it didn’t clear up, I finally took him to the doctor who diagnosed acne and said to use clearasil soap and a rough towel. Today, my hairdresser told me her brother gets acne on his back that is painful and some turn into boils. Since my son’s acne is not clearing up and a few pimples look nasty - almost like boils - and are painful, I’m googling acne and erythromycin. Which is why I found your site. Anyway, it’s a good question and it pays to go to your doctor with as much info as possible. Certainly ask “could it be staph?” because you might get better results than I got at the doctors not asking that question. I may take him back. Good luck!
