i have a hen named ella and shes 3 .

she stopped laying eggs about 6 to 8 months ago and i give her oyster shell but it doesnt help. please help.

a i guess hens can stop laying eggs 4 good-not sure though. and i dont even no wat henopause is.and u dont have to laugh at me- if u cant tell me anything useful then dont responde to me.

No one was laughing at you. They were laughing at me and that’s okay. I will do some checking to see what I can find out about your problem. I think I can call an egg ranch and just ask. By the way,where did you get your hen?

I just did some checking and found out that most chickens only lay eggs for about 3 years. You may have to get another hen if you want to have those nice, fresh eggs.

hey ckmurra , sry that i said u were laughing at me. and thanx for doing research on the hen stuff. i got my hen at a fair in butler county pa. i had 2 but the other one got really sick so we had to put her down.it was sad. my family and i want to get more chickens but idk… wel thanx again. anonymous.

You are welcome. Do you have a Future Farmers of America or 4-H group in your town? When my children were young, we got a chicken from a local farmer. We named her Chick Chick. I was surprised at how long she lived after she quit laying eggs. I hope that your hen lives a long, happy life. When ours finally died, we buried her and my daughter made a marker that said, “Here lies Chick Chick. May She Roost in Peace” which made all of us smile.

ahh , thats really cute. im sorry about your hen,we buried ours too. and no i dont have a future farmers of america or 4-h group here. ive never even heard of that. wel thankyou again.

well i have a hen and she stoped laying for a long time then i found some eggs after woods
i think they gett a bit pooped with all that laying
then she had a cluch of 23 chicks 5 did not hatch
