Teenagers are just idiots with microphones.

Honestly, they are. And I’m another one of them.

Sometimes I think it would be better if we didn’t have the internet and things like myspace or facebook, and kids weren’t given cellphones at such early ages - maybe teachers wouldn’t have to worry about seeing ‘txt tlk’ on on written assignments or other examples of people being dumbed down by today’s technology just for convenience.

Anyway. What do you think?

Problems with Myspace.com, Friendster or Bebo.com?

Generally speaking, if you are having issues with those sites it is best to contact their support staff directly. These links can get you started:

Myspace Support, Friendster Support and Bebo Support

If you are trying to access these services from your school and are blocked, we suggest you abide by the schools rules while you utilize the schools equipment.

Indeed. The internet has devastated the young minds of our society. Technology, meant to make life better, has actually made it worse by degrading our social and intellectual proficiency. I, at a mere 12 years old, am exposed to the heinous atrocity known as technology.

I think generilisation is pathetic, not all teenagers are idiots ( Though many are ) but still no reason to go around branding people.

What’s this “idiots with microphones”? Are you trying to say that before microphones, all teens were smarter?

There are positive and negative aspects of everything, including technology.

I think the more I experience things, I start to think the more technology is involved in our lives, the more detached we become. We get so addicted to the TV and only realise that we do not actually miss it once you go without it for a while. I went camping recently and realised that I did not miss anything technological at all and that it was nice to get away from it and relax.

I do not think all teenagers are idiots, nor that things like the phones and social networks are the cause to problems. The disadvantages stuff like mobile phones and the Internet have on people effect all ages, not just teenagers.
I believe its a case of they are just another expression of something that is already there. Personally I do not think young children really need to use phones the way they do, the only good use being for safety. The way I see social networks affect peoples lives is mad, it can actually control them and just give another way where more parts of our lives are open to others. Seems like patience is shrinking and that there is no sense of time anymore, if something is not instant then there must be something wrong. If someone you are going out with does not reply to a text message or online message straight away then there must be a problem.

I agree with this.

Double agree.

I personally think it’s hilarious how on so many essays i, as well as people i know, have written “u” instead of you, or something else.

Obviously its because were used to texting/i-ming, but without these things people that otherwise maybe can’t leave their house can talk to people.

If it annoys you so much, why not move 500 miles away and become Amish, instead of calling all teenagers idiots?

I wish I had a microphone. I also don’t feel I was an idiot two years ago when I was a teenager.

Hm…I can’t help but agree with you on the elimination of myspace, facebooks, etc…

I am also a teenager and I do think that sometimes our hormones get the best of us.

Though I would like a microphone. Hehehe *Thinks of the possibilities*

*hides the microphone* Can you be trusted? :P

When I was in college, there two people there in the 30’s and 40’s who had such negative opinions on sites like myspace and facebook. One of them made were very ignorant about it though. Its funny, when one of my friends broke up with an ex on there, they kept trying to message another friend about their ex saying bad things. Gotta love those sites.

When I had a mic, I was too scared to use it! Whoops.

I wish I could disagree, I am a teenager, 18, and am not totally unintelligent, but it seems to me every day I meet someone my age who just seems a little dumber than the idiot I met the day before. Its not just teenagers though, adults too, I work in a grocers and I encounter morons everyday. I am always surprised at how stupid people can be. I see hundred misspelled on checks, people for some reason have a problem operating gas pumps and self checkouts(if there is a problem it is always addressed on the screen…ALWAYS, just a few examples of the thousands I see everyday. It’s enough to drive a person mad!

I think it’s incredible that there are so many ways now, thanks to technology, for people to express themselves. The teenage years are crazy times, and I wish I had had so many forums to discuss my problems, make connections, and keep in touch with my friends. People are bad at spelling. It’s something that drives me crazy, because I’ve always been good at it and misspelled words are like flashing red lights to me. I don’t think it’s that important for words to be spelled correctly in informal settings though, and I think English teachers just need to make sure students understand what situations call for proper spelling and grammar. Try not to worry about these advantages technology has provided us with too much :)

i am a teenager and that is one of the meanest things i have ever read! no one should be looking down on us you should be trying to help us get smarter if you think were not smart. because as you get older teenagers now will be your leaders and since no one helped us become more smart and just told us were “idiots with microphones” Where do you think well be. Thanks for effending more then 1/4 of the human race!!

myspace and facebook are pretty stupid but its just a way to comunicate with others.
