Problem making a DVD to work on the TV.

I have Windows XP 2002 Home Edition, Pentium 4 CPU with 2 GHz. I made a WP 12 Presentation, saved it to my hard drive and went to RECORDNOW to burn it to my DVD. All says it recorded good. I am making a DVD for the first time and it will not play on my TV. I tried to erase the presentation I burned to it, but can’t. Since I really don’t know what I am doing, I will be wasting my blank DVD my experimenting until I get one which will play on the TV. The DVD I am recording on is Maxell, DVD+RW 4.7gb. Help, I need this DVD for my class reunion on 08/29/08.
