I am a man and I have been reading online and I suspect I have issues with my thyroid.
My mother has a thyroid condition, but im not sure if its hyper or hypo thyroid. Anyways, lately I’ve been noting increasing bare patches in my beard (which are still noticeable when fully shaved), and reading online I see its a direct correlation to Alopecia areata http://www.alopeciaareata.us/app/caus... . I have taken quizes and i’m getting several results that say I should have my thyroid checked. One thing to note is that I don’t eat table salt. The only iodine I get is from food, so I don’t know if that would have resulted in poor maintenence of my thyroid on my part, plus for the last 3 years I had started working out heavily and I’m not sure if the increased soy protein products, which I then switched to whey protein caused the onset of the condition or if it is strictly hereditary. I do know that I was having trouble staying awake or lucid after lunch no matter what I ate and that was for some time at my previous jobs noted a couple of years now. To try to help correct the situation, I have stopped my lifting workout (and I’m getting smaller) but still run a couple times of week. I also just started taking a very low dose of 120mg of kelp iodine a day, but I’m not sure if that is helping or making matters worse. Here is where I need help. I have been unemployed and without health care benefits. I’m virtually on my last dollar(s), and I need to get to some kind of clinic or something. Where can I go in South Florida (Fort Lauderdale Area), or online to find more information where I can get checked out? Is this something that will be covered at a clinic or only at a doctor’s office visit and costly blood testing (which I cannot currently afford). Is there any government financed places, or grants, etc I can apply for to get checked asap. One thing’s for certain, its affecting my confidence and very obvious to new potential employers. I think it’s making it more difficult for me to locate new employment since it looks like i have a disease. Oh and btw I’m in sales and dealing with clients they don’t want someone that has a disease to be out trying to represent their business. Call it shallow, but we know what kind of world we live in… I want to resolve this and hope that it will help me find employment and then rebuild my career and future. I’m still looking for work, but I feel like until I resolve this I cannot move forward or do so with my best foot forward. Thanks in advance for your help.
