We do not have an official Linux version, but many people out there are using it without much issues:
Do you have use for it?
Neat! I would be curious to see what you think. (Keeping in mind that we have never released an actual Linux version) but it seems like many people are using it with Wine just fine. Let me know how it goes…
I also wonder what your opinion of our Crossloop Marketplace is? If you have a few minutes - check it out. We have 10,000+ people up there who signed up free on it who are experts in their own respective fields. All of these people are eager to help others people who have questions, issues, problems with computer issues. Many of Crossloop experts can indeed help people on help.com and vice versa of course… Wonder what you think…
P.S. I’m new to this site - how in the world do you upload a pic to your profile… hahaha!
Never mind - got it… they are called Avatars.. nice! In any case - interested in your opinion, also if you know other people who wouldn’t mind giving me their opinion - would be fantastic! Thank you!

Pretty easy really. You sign up for an account on www.crossloop.com , open up a profile. It’s all free. Fill in all the details about your expertise, how much you want to charge, if you offer free estimates, etc. There are many tools you can use to market yourself, some of them are widgets and badges which you can add on your blog, profile, email signature, etc. In any case - once you create your profile, you are in the search results. PayPal was recently integrated into the profiles, so its easier to collect payments from people.
So once you are in the search results, there are many things you can do to increase your chances of being higher up in the results. Have more sessions - get more ratings. Be logged into Crossloop client - this will show you as Available Now.. there is more - I can email you later on if you interested…
Be interested in what you think of it? Perhaps some Help.com helpers will also find this useful?

Application is 100% free for all use. Commercial or private - it’s free. Nops - no hidden costs…
Let me know if you know others who don’t mind giving me feedback on it. Thanks!
Thank you! Please let me know the link to that post.. would love to hear their replies… I cannot comment in that forum since I am not a mod/admin? yeah? In any case - would be interesting to see their replies… Thanks!
Hmm… I am totally new at this, so again - not much experience with forums. If you could help me to understand how it works:
Crossloop is just a tool to share screens. So if 2 users who meet on help.com agree to share their desktops with each other, then this should be ok no? There is no need to publicly exchange IM or email addresses to screen share.
Publicly sharing emails, passwords, IM addresses on forums - not sure how this is linked to people using the Crossloop tool with each other… Here is a good video demo of how the tool works:
http://www.crossloop.com/ipage.htm?id…
Let me know what you think… Thanks!
Oh - for that people usually use the ContactMe feature on the experts Crossloop profile. I have not seen people post their Access Codes or email address publicly on the forum. I have seen people leave their Crossloop profile URL in a forum, here is mine as an example:
www.crossloop.com/dmitry
then who ever wants to get help goes to the URL and initiates the contact with the expert that way. That’s how people typically use it…
Thanks Ken! Yeah - in terms of privacy as I was mentioning - if anything people just leave their Crossloop URL in the forum discussion and then have others contact them through ContactMe on their profile. I have never seen people leave their emails… I’ll do as you suggest - leave yourabi an email..
Let me know if you or someone else knows how to best tell experts on help.com that this option exists for them?
Thanks!
Ooop. Ant - I guess you’re the one Ken was referring to leave message for yourabi… Looks like there is no way I can do so…
Thanks Ken! So far no response.. Will wait patiently for the response.. Thank you.
Hello Ireland-1 - Sure not a problem. To try it out - go to our site : www.crossloop.com and give a try! Would be interested in seeing what you think…
Ken- Thank you for following up with me over the weekend and letting me know what your admin mentioned. I’ll try to email you and continue this discussion perhaps.
Anthrax/Ken/Ireland - looks like I cannot email any of u, but I have giving all 3 of you permissions to email me… so please shoot me an email when you can…
Thank you.
Ken/Ireland/Ant-
Is it possible to email you somehow? I have shared my email with you over help.com - if you one of you can please email me.. I’m interested in continuing this discussion. Perhaps having some of you try out the application, see if you like, and it’s usefulness. It would be much easier over email…
Thanks,
-Dmitry
Maybe you could use VirtualBox like the guy in this thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.ph…
It seems like the Share functionality does not seem to work properly… As I was mentioning - we have not released a Linux version as of yet. But the tool can be used in Linux under programs such as VirtualBox or on Windows platforms. Mac version is coming this Fall.
Do you think this would be helpful to let popular helpers on help.com know about it?
I just installed crossloop using wine. It works great on ubuntu 8.04. The biggest problem of what doesn’t work is the ability to receive support. I use Crossloop to help our users out. Our users have a linux ubuntu 8.04 laptop. It would be great for the ability to get remote support help working for our linux users.
Yes I have heard of that. It is an issue currently. As I was mentioning we do not have an official version out right now for Linux… but in the future perhaps.
Glad to see you suing Crossloop. So - do you think peeps on Help.com will find it useful?
