I’m not used to being so regulated on the Internets. You should see some of the stuff I say to people on youtube. It’d probably shut help.com down lol. And their audience is just as young.

Cheese is not nothing! But honestly, I never thought we would talk so damned much about it. Sorry to hear about Wally, but not to worry. Most bans are only for a day, so if she isn’t back it’s by choice. And I agree with Mas that there’s usually a reason. The mods wade through a lot of busy work–as volunteers–and deserve more credit. There is only one admin.

What is the actual extent of banning someone?

I think it depends… There’s a temporary account ban, a permanent one (I think), and an IP ban if you’re banned too much. There’s also warnings and stuff like that. Mods could explain it better.

ok - lemme just clear some thing up 1st - we do not under any circumstances ban any body just for the fun of it. In reality we actually do not like banning people. We like to have people on this site. However if they are being disruptive or mean or breaking the TOU we some times have no choice.
I do not know who banned Princess. Maybe if I can have a link or even suggestion on how to find this person I might be able to let you know what happened. I tried searching Princess and had no luck.

Thank you for replying Live4anon - do you have a link to her profile or her last name? I do not see any notes on the mod forum about this and would like to be able to do an IP trace on the activities. See what happened and who did it. I tried searching ‘Princess Wally’ and nothing was found.

Thank you Live4anon - I have found her profile from that post. I have added this to the mod forum in the hope that we will find who banned her. I did quickly read the last few posts and think I know why but would like to get confirmation before continuing. Please bear with me while I wait for a confirmation reply.

Sometimes I feel that the mods are banning the innocent users and are not banning the ones who should be banned. I’m not going to say any names, but those of you who know those people who should/should’ve not been banned know what I’m talking about.

ok - I have had confirmation back. For those who think we are banning the wrong user please stop coz usually you are wrong simply because you do not know the whole story and cannot see what we can see.
Basically she took to abusing the Anonymous button and started trolling posts. Generally being unhelpful and also unkind.
I myself have read her last few posts and replies - as well as 2 other moderators and they all agree on the reason for banning.
Like Mitzy and I have mentioned above - we dont ban people for the fun of it. There was a valid reason to this banning.

she became a troll - I did not know her in the beginning so I cannot judge. From the sounds of it she has a big friendship base so she must have been nice at some point. At the end replies were pretty mean and pointless and not very helpful. Sorry to give you the truth.

3. They are the only way to regulate which users are helpful and which need to be banned.

The Mods are Good People because:

1. They are using there free time to moderate over a website for ABSOLUTELY no pay or credit.
2. They were handpicked by a Cnet/CBS employee who is/was the Admin.
3. They continue to moderate on this website even though the Admin hasn’t been here for over 6 months.
