I am not up to date on the situation. Nor do I intend on the moment as it is quite late. My opinion as it stands however is that regardless of peoples beliefs, the Olympics is a nationwide sporting event, not a awareness raising issue. Regardless of where they (The Olympics) are held, it is not the place for protesting, which unfortunately is what has been going on as far as I have seen.

The Free Tibet campaign goes beyond the Olympics.

What’s being highlighted are the homes that Beijing citizens are losing to make way for the Olympic arena. (I think that is wrong too).

With the Olympics people are forced to leave there homes and they are not relocated by the government. They are left to find a new place to stay on there own.

The deal with Tiber, however, is that the Tibetan people are being captured and held for exile for doing nothing but be peaceful. The Dalai Lama (Buddhist) is also being held captive. They are doing nothing that gives Communist China a right to take them from there homes. D:

An with the publicity that the Olympics get I give protesters credit for forming outside and getting their messages across.

The Chinese Government can’t really do anything to them with all the people around to intervene. I give them (the protesters) credit for doing something that could get them killed.

The Dalai Lama is not being help captive if I am correct? It is the Pancha Lama I thought? (apoligies for misspelling the titles if I did, as I said, I am not hugely up to date on the topic.)

The Dalai Lama, an individual said to be an incarnation of the Buddha of Compassion, had been both the political and spiritual leader of the country. The current Dalai Lama (the 14th) was only 24 years old when this all came to an end in 1959. The Communist Chinese invasion in 1950 led to years of turmoil, that culminated in the complete overthrow of the Tibetan Government and the self-imposed exile of the Dalai Lama and 100,000 Tibetans in 1959.

Exile does not mean a person is being held captive however. Whether it be forced of self-imposed. The Dalai Lama is not being held captive no? Again, I am sorry as I am getting involved but I am not prepared to read anything about the situation right now as A) I am watching a film, and B) I have been drinking and I dislike reading things like that when I have been drinking.

Oh oops! I messed my facts up. Sorry.

I meant to say that thousands are being held captive.

Enjoy your film. :D

Cool, I won’t be on tomorrow but I shall return the following night and give you some proper responses as opposed to the ones that are based purely on my limited knowledge of the situation! I’m also going to add you to my friend list if that’s OK with you, I like people that you can have a healthy debate with as opposed to it turning into a silly argument that results with people getting angry! :)
