The only people that ask these questions are the ones that are crying out for help.
What’s the problem?

Actually, I have a very close friend who takes them a little too frequently for me to be comfortable. I just want to make sure she stays safe.

Withdrawal symptoms may be worse if you take more than 4 mg of alprazolam every day.

God, I have no idea how much she takes daily. From time to time she does get rather loopy, though. I’m really worried.

It is a dangerous medication. Did you look at the info on this link?

Yes, but I cannot necessarily differentiate side effects from possible overdose indicators. I’m just searching for a number. All I know that generally 4 mg is the maximum prescription.

Well if she’s getting her meds from her doctor she shouldn’t be able to take too many for long, she’d run out before the time is up and wouldn’t be able to refill her prescription until the allotted time has passed.

No the initial dose is 4mg to be increased by a Doctor periodically. There are withdrawal symptoms may be WORSE if the patient takes more than 4 mg/day.

Overdose:

Is your friend overdosing?

I have absolutely no clue what’s going on with her doctor—or if she’s even seeing one anymore. She claims that she gets the pills from him. I think the best plan is “some kind of intervention” (thank you mas)… I’m not sure whether she has overdosed as of yet, but I don’t want it to happen.

Overdose is a critical condition and will require emergency care. The links I posted should educate you as to proper dosing and use. The normal dose of this med can make a patient “loopy” as you stated.

If I suspect anything, my plan is 911. Thanks everyone.
