Virus on my computer!

I have a virus on my computer and can’t get rid of it. I have run Macafee but it doesn’t find it. I ran Norton and it found the virus but can not get rid of it. I don’t want to do a system restore on my computer because I will lose everything!!! Can someone help me, please?

OOH!!
Doh’.
Haha.
I have AVG.
Somehow that slipped my mind.
Ikari-san is right.

Haha. My brother tried something and it kept coming up that it was a fail because it was virus.

First of all, running system restore will not cause you to lose everything; but it will uninstall programs that you have recently installed prior to the creation of the restore point. It may be the best option if it’s difficult to remove via other means.

Don’t feel silly though. I’ve worked with computers for years and I still get viruses every now and then. I think everyone does. Except people that run Macs I guess, but that is increasingly becoming less true.

Btw Ikari, your avatar looks like a swastika!

You should clean out your pc first then try removing the virus. Install these and turn off system restore then go into safe mode and run the programs. After you do that restart your pc and system restore then see if the virus is still there.

If your PC seems like its slowing down or having a hard time surfing the web or just doesn’t seem right.
You should go to http://download.com and get these programs.
AD-Aware: http://www.download.com/3120-20_4.htm…
Spybot search and destroy: http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search…
CCleaner: http://www.download.com/CCleaner/3000…
and and if you dont have an Antivirus program you can use
Avast: http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Ed…
or AVG: http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Viru…
and for your firewall a good program is
Zone Alarm: http://www.download.com/ZoneAlarm-Fir…
Install these programs and run them regulary. This will keep your system clean and running properly. These programs are free and Download.com is a part of CNET (the site that your posting on right now). Hope this helps :-)

Have you tried restarting your PC in Safe mode and seeing if you can remove it then with your virus programs?

You could do the restore, which goes back to a day before where everything was fine - Like The King mentioned.

King-san:
Ehh. I have safe mode. It makes me feel blind. ;D
Haha. Everything is so huge… TT_TT

ok… this is getting silly…

if norton can see it, but can’t get rid of it it means that its either a system resident virus, or nortons on trial period.

if it see it - then please copy/paste EXACTLY what it says - because then you can run a search for the specifi virus, and a specific cure which sounds like is neccessary…

if AVG doesn’t work, it does sound like your computer is quite supremely hammerd though, so it might be worth thinking about copying all important/irreplaceable files off your computer, and formating the drive :P

but only you know how bad your computer is!

i can see the problem of virus issue as myself got one who both of me and it fight who will rule he computer lol:P, anyway it was my fault as i didn’t do the deep scan from a while ago and about how to get rid of any virus, you see the antivirus information about the virus location and where is it( c:\ or any other partition) you wil se where the virus is when you do se that write it down and then try seeing if the file it got the virus is an improtant one or not if it is not that important so delete it and here we will be good, and if you can’t find it like the way in my case you just do that let spybot search and destroy scan and it will try to catch it, so try the first option, and never put both AntiVirus on one machine , it will blow the system so just put one Antivirus, and one spyware and one antispyware, and spybot, and they are all on www.DOWNLAOD.COM

AVG is certainly great I scanned my computer with the fully paid version of the AVG, and it picked up all the cookies that mcafee picked up but couldnt remove and it also picked up the trogan and removed them.

Roll on AVG

Anyone here got viruses - mcafee rubish - norton - rubish - AVG=Great!!!!
