ok well seems like the virus/spyware itself is trying to destroy the computer more by making you click those sites. i recommend the AVG 8.0 anti-virus free edition and Ad-ware 2008 from download.com those 2 programs kept my computer healthy. and dont install any active-x for a while

you also almost certainly want spybot too…

however, if something is doing that to your computer, it sounds like you’ve got one of the real nastys - and its altered your system severely - i would recommend doing a system restore

restart your computer in safe mode (press F8 when your computer is rebooting) and run the system restore to a earlier point…

you may lose some recently installed files, but it sounds like its better than losing your computer :P

oh, and then go and get ad-aware, spybot, zonealarm and AVG :D

you could also do a run, msconfig, and stop all the extra services and startup programs from starting, but that only solves the problem a little. also, do you have abrand name computer? or is it custom.

true - but if its embedded into the system files, theres a high chance that its actually re-written part of the system registry/.dll’s

so a system restore, or a complete format re-install is more likely…

still, it might be worth the half measures, just in case i’m wrong…
