Regained a phobia

I used to be terrified of insects when I was a kid, although I know many kids usually are. Especially spiders. Then as I got older, I had no problem taking a glass and a piece of paper and simply putting a spider outside, no matter what size it was. But over the last few years, I’ve suddenly become more terrified of them than ever! I don’t get how that happened.

sometimes phobias do resurface, mine has recently, concidentally also of spiders, but will go away again, just gradually try and get used to them, instead of killing/getting rid of every spider you see, perhaps just ignore smaller ones, thats what i tried to do and it helped me. obviously different for everyone but i dunno, jus how bad is your phobia?

I locked myself in my room last night because there was a huge spider on the landing. I’ll leave the room usually and if I have to go back into it, I scan it carefully, and I usually tremble, just expecting it to jump at me!

if its a huge spider, its understandable, i freeze and cant really do anything if i see a huge one, i have to get away but i dont want it to move cuz then i wont know where it is and i dont want to kill it cuz its mean, its just a spider, i doesnt know anything. normally i jus get my dad to chuck it out but if i cant then i jus have to shut it in the room and not go back in there till i know it will’ve gone. when i go into somewhere like a public loo, i have to look around to make sure theres none in there, but sometimes i can control myself not to look around cuz then i wont be able to use the loo lol, i scan my bedroom every time i go in there to sleep, and recently on holiday i was a nervous wreck and slept with the light on for three nights. its bloody annoying havng a phobia of something so common but i think maybe phobias jus arise every now and then then they fade away. im not really sure why. i realise i havent been much help in helping you get over your phobia but erm, maybe itll help to know you’re not alone?

I’m glad I’m not alone. I just wish I knew what triggered my phobia, when did I suddenly stop being fearless of spiders, that kind of thing. Well I guess I was never really fearless of them. Even when I used to catch, they’d still freak me out, lol.
