Would you put “on Camp so and so” or “aboard Camp so and so,” if your baby is born on a military base?

I wan to put a birth announcement in our homtown paper, but I am confused. Big signs all over base say “Welcome aboard Camp ().” So is that correct? I know it isn’t “in” or “at.”

I’m assuming you’re talking about a Naval Station or a US Marine Corps base, like Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, or Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois. Events happen aboard US Marine Corps bases, but babies are born AT Camp Lejeune or NS Great Lakes. Baby John was born at Camp Lejeune. Baby Jane was born at Greak Lakes Naval Station. Alternatively, you can refer to the city nearest the station. Baby John was born in Jacksonville, South Carolina. Baby Jane was born in Great Lakes, Illinois.

If your baby is born on an Army post, it’s still at. Baby John was born at Fort Hood, Texas. Baby Jane was born at Fort Ord, California. Baby John was born in Killeen, Texas. Baby Jane was born in Seaside, California.

If your baby is born on an Air Force base, it’s also at. Baby John was born at Mountain Home Air Force Base. Baby Jane was born at Vandenberg Air Force Base. Baby John was born in Mountain Home, Idaho. Baby Jane was born in Lompoc, California.

Hope this helps.
