Photoshop CS help…

Hey, I’m working with a lot of colors, on a single colored background… I need to select the characters but I don’t want to use a lasso. Is it possible to use magic wand on the solid background then somehow, by pressing a shortcut, select everything BUT the originally selected background?

Yup, if you make your selection than there is an option to invert your selection. I can’t remember off the top of my head where this option is exactly though, it’s either if you right click on your selection, or else in one of the tool bars at the top of your scree :)
